83 Tournament 19 Leaking Fuel Tank

I'm not familiar with your 19 Tournament, but had an 83 24' Tournament, and now an 87 Gulfsteam. Tank installations were identical, even though I never changed them. The tank(s) go in before the deck cap goes on. Positioning and securing them was simple, but effective. Some wood wedges, screws...

    Scupper drain hose

That only worked for me on one of the four connections. And the hoses were smoking. For the other three, I razor-knifed the hose, then cut the wire loops with a good pair of side cutters. Once that wire tension was released, they damn near fell off.

    Scupper drain hose

Look here, then open the parts list. the exploded view shows all; http://www.gerberonline.com/Catalog.asp ... temID=3939 These fit right into the openings for the original drains. They make a quick 90 deg turn. They have the strainer on top (replace every 2 years.) The 1 1/2" hose fits nicely...

    Scupper drain hose

That's true, but whirlpool tub drains work quite well. Get the bronze ones.

    Older Gulfstream Questions

Yes it has a forward bilge pump. Do all of those compartments all drain into it? Thank you

    Older Gulfstream Questions

After looking since April, I'm back in the game with an 87 Gulfstream. A bracket boat with a dry, solid, original transom. Single 2000 225 Evinrude that may need repowering sooner or later. And a 98 tandem trailer. When I first saw it, the scuppers were above the water line 8) Besides all the...

    Hatch Blemishes ?

The hatches on my 83 245 Tournament were fine. Sold it last year.

    Hatch Blemishes ?

I don't know much about fiberglass work or repair, and didn't notice if the chips were all gelcoat. Surprised at the size and depth of what was missing. The opened areas were yellow-brown in color.

    Hatch Blemishes ?

It's been a while since I posted, being boatless for over a year, but getting back in the game. Recently I looked at a mid 90's full transom Gulfstream that looks like it would shape up nicely, except for the hatches. By hatches, meaning every hinged lid for fishboxes, livewells, storage, or...

    rear scuppers

The experimenting was already done (by me). This was the best way. The through hulls are straight through's. They are connected to the bond system. The valves screw directly onto the through hulls. then there's a fitting to connect the hose. The hose is connected to the deck drain...

    rear scuppers

Each one is attached directly to the through hull. The size is either 1 1/2 or 2". Due to the transom angle, the valves are tilted, and normally a little bit open. They naturally drain at this angle. Here's a picture:

    rear scuppers

I replaced my scuppers and deck drains 4 years ago when I bought the boat. The rubber flappers were beat, the bodies were plastic, and the designs of everything I saw left a lot to be desired. I researched scuppers and deck drains immensely before deciding what to do. For the through hulls...

    Replacing teak trim

My 02. All the conversions that I've seen from teak to starboard look wavy. The starboard just doesn't have the longitudinal strength that teak has, it's really not the right color, and it cheapens the boat IMO. The teak makes all the difference, and adds character. Last year, I replaced...

84 Tournament - Console seam question

I think I know what you're talking about. My boat is a 24' Tournament. 1983. The three pieces make a "U", like this: l_l I replaced most of the teak this year, and had the rest of it all off to refinish. I also replaced the bulkheads (kickpanels). Those edges you're talking about aren't...

    Steering Hose Replacement

Hoses will work, and are easier to install. Teleflex does say that copper is better, though. I replaced my 20+ year old copper lines last year with with new 3/8" soft copper. You can run them under the gunnel. It's not that bad of a job. Remove the bilge vent at the gunnell corner, then feed...

    Hardtop on a 225 Tournament

I own the 245 with the hardtop. It doesnt't have a thick hardtop like the factory jobs.. The top frame is 1" box aluminum with a thin sheet of fiberglass attached. It's light and serves the purpose. I think the full thickness fiberglass would be heavier. With the curtains, it keeps me dry in all...

    89' 242 Offshore bulkhead replacement,and total rewire

Very nice work. Great pictures for history. I've gone through similar projects in the four years I've owned mine. New bulkheads (I used a teak laminate over epoxied plywood) and new teak this year. Electric, hardtop, and fuel lines in 05. Electronics in 06. Can't remember 07 right now...

Drilling holes through T-Top Sunbrella fabric?

There's a tool set out there called a gasket punch set. It consists of a drive rod you hit with a hammer, and changeable cutting tips to make different sized holes. Pick your hole size, put it on the rod, back up your Sunbrella with a piece of 3/8 or 1/2" plywood under it, and whack it...
