Engine Breaking Up at High RPM

The beauty of owning an OX66, or any engine that has been around 18 or so years; is that any problem you may have has already been lived by someone else willing to share their experiences. Hence the added beauty of owners forums. So the problem was in the VST?

Purchased my first grady white f26 tigercat in love!!!!

You're barely within spec. The books say 5000-5500. That boat isn't a speed demon by any stretch especially with the 150's. What size props do you have? Need lots of motor trim. I don't ever recall using the trim tabs. You got a factory service manual for the motors right?

Purchased my first grady white f26 tigercat in love!!!!

I'm a little late to the party. I would say you stole the boat, congrats great deal! Hands down the best riding boat I've ever owned. Syncing the steering was a little PIA but it only took a minute ever other time I used the boat. I researched it well but not much of a cure. I believe...

Twin 225 OX66 Steering Woes, 272 Sailfish, UPDATE FIXED!

Re: Twin 225 OX66 Steering Woes, With Photos! 272 Sailfish I have the exact same setup as firemedic. Yea, I have the extensions on the steering bracket. The steering ram is suppose to pivot down when the motor is tilted up. I'm guessing the brackets that hold the steering ram are frozen and...

    272 Trailer Bunk Measurements

Correct, and everything is moved forward. Medic appears to have newer hull design and I think it should sit further forward on the trailer. Not too trailer savy, but when I hear bunks that's carpeted timbers correct? I have a roller trailer maybe that's different.

    Best we can do......Evinrude G2's / Marlin300

Looking at your numbers and doing the math in my head (big mistake); it looks like the increase in RPMS to 4000 and speed to 33 MPH is linear. Meaning your economy didn't drop drastically. Looks like 9% increase in fuel burn equals a 9% increase in speed. If they were OX66's, I'd betha, a 9%...

    A New Grady Owner (almost)

    A couple questions

When I bought my boat I was also getting weird readings. I replaced the OEM senders with WEMA units and that took care of the problem. The WEMA guys are real helpful. About the oil tanks. A guy in my marina just blew up his engine because of water in the oil tank. Strongly recommend...

    Power steering question

I think you're bypassing at the wheel and it sounds like you may be in for a pump rebuild kit. Not too bad of a job, so I understand, I've never had to do it. There's a real easy way to remove the wheel; do a search and if no luck get back to us. I had a similar situation but not as bad as...
