Two 150s or One 250 on Center Console

I have a'97 Gulfstream with twin 150's and have spoken to MANY owners with the single 250. Almost everyone one of them said they wished they had opted for the twins. I like the redundancy and the fact that I can troll on one(1) engine and only use about 1.5 GPH. Manuvering is much easier as well...

    Grady canvas question...

A & J Canvas in VanceBoro, North Carolina make the enclosures for Grady-White. 252-244-1509 When I was there 2 years ago they still had patterns for boats back in to the early '90's.

    Need Advice on Trailer Brakes.

The piston on the wheel(s) that are stuck and not releasing are likely rusted in place. Sometimes you can take the caliper off and force high pressure air thru them and get them to release. Usually not -- I tried. As for the Kodiak brakes, the warranty is the same and the is ZERO -- NONE -- NADA...

    New Gulfstream 232

Sorry if you already are aware of these hints. Just trying to be helpful and need someting to do while waitingfor the DEEP FREEZE to be over here in Maryland. Not sure if you are familiar with Salt-Away. I buy in concetrate and mix up a container using a 2 Gal garden sprayer. I spray the entire...

    New Gulfstream 232

Congratulations-- WOW - What a sweet ride. As mentioned, you can't be too careful about the trailer. Get a rig with at least a 10K rating, and 10 ply tires.

    Crack in H/T frame

I checked and can't see anywhere that water could get in. I might pull the screws at the bottom and see if I get a shower. This part is where the frame comes all the way down the right/rear to the section that form the back edge of the bridge area. If you lift the fish box lid, it almost hits...

    Crack in H/T frame

I was putting the tarp on th old girl this afternoon to protect her from the approaching ICE storm. I notice a crack in the vertical pipe that is in the ight rear down tube. It almost looks as though something caused it to burst from the inside. The crack is about 1/2 inch long and is bulged...

    1998 Gulfstream

Speed demon or not -- I would walk away from this under-powered boat. I have 150's and can't get my boat on plane with 1 engine. The 115's are not enough for the hull. They would be overworked and probably use MORE fuel then the 150's.

    small dings on gelcoat

I have done several "Dock Rash" repairs on my boat using the kit from Grady-White. As mentioned, you will likely NOT get a perfect color match due to sun bleaching. I use alcohol to clean the area around the ding. Lightly sand any rough areas with 800-100 Grit sandpaper and clean again with...

Best Compound and Wax to use to bring back the grady hull.

Re: Best Compound and Wax to use to bring back the grady hul I just did my 1997 Gulfstream using turtle wax polishing compound. This is a white POLISHING compound and NOT the reddish brown stuff. They idea is to attack the gelcaot with the least abrasive compound especially if your a novice. I...

Are twin 200 hpdi's okay on a 01 grady white sailfish

Best thinig to do is sea trail the boat with four friends on board. That will give you more of a "real life" load experience as to how she runs. HPDI 200's have had a great history especially if well maintained.

    Storage Tarpaulins

I use a 20X40 silver/black tarp on my boat and the one I have now has lasted 5 years. I might replace it this year because small craks and tears are showing up. I leave the front just over the bow rail open eneough that some air blows thru and usually pull my antenna down so that the tip hangs...

Propeller Change on Sailfish - slip percentage

Brian --- I had the same "stock" Yamaha props on my 150's and when I had them reconditioned a few years ago, I had the shop strip all the black of them. I t seemed to make them perform better. I don't have any scientific data to back that up --- It just seems that way.

1986 grady drive corrosion how to repair?

Do a search on bracket repair. There was a HUGE discussion about a few years ago. One of the posters was a marine mechanic/boat builder and had some strong views about repair vs replacement.

    Kodiak Brakes vs Tie Down

Good move on the Salt-Away --- I use it every trip after the trailer comes out of the water. The crew gets upset sometimes because they are ready to go. I just tell them they can shell out an extra $20/guy to replace the brakes and then the all SHUT-UP.

    The Saga of the Trailer

Glad you got your trailer in time for vacation. A word of caution --- I would move the bunks so you only have about 1/2 to 1 inch of bunk behind the stern. In the event that you forget to raise the trimtabs, you won't break them off or damage them. The extra 2 ft only lets you buy a bigger boat...
