    Thinking about a 2011 GW 300 Marlin

Re: Just purchased a 2011 GW 300 Marlin Bukster, That's definitely the right prop and the reason your boat jumps up on plane. My boat came from Grady with a 17 pitch and was a dog until I went to the 15 pitch. Amazing how much different the right wheel makes. And it would be interesting to...

    Thinking about a 2011 GW 300 Marlin

Re: Just purchased a 2011 GW 300 Marlin Kevin, congrats, bet you're going to love those engines. Ed, can you tell us what size prop is on your engine?

    Bow Eye

Definitely an important topic since I've seen many owners moor their boats using the bow eye. My Grady manual defines the bow eye as "a U-shaped hull fitting used to attached the trailer winch to the boat". In my experience and opinion the best way to securely moor in bad weather is the way...

My marina once told me that my LOA was nearly 30' with the motor raised and an anchor on the pulpit. I'll measure for you today and post my exact findings.

Best Anchor for a 330 Express

I am a fellow boater who thinks anchoring deserves much more thought than just "throwing the hook". All the science and practical experience I'll ever need to know about anchoring was in "The Complete Anchoring Handbook" by Alain Poiraud. Many factors go into staying put on any bottom in any...

    Trailering a boat to Florida

For a couple years I've been contemplating the same thing. My research found that these guys were the cheapest, and their pre-sales service has been excellent. I have not yet shipped a boat with them. http://boat-transport.net/

port a poti with macerator- Where's the #2 go?

My Gulfstream has the same setup. It is nearly impossible to get solid waste to flow out the drain pipe using either the macerator or a pump out.....don't ask me how I know. Tell everyone on board that #2 stays onshore. Three miles is the demarcation line for overboard waste - see CFR...

winter prep: full tank of gas or just above empty?

Previous years always stored full, never had a problem. Last year stored nearly empty, lots of problems, changed a lot of filters in the spring. Going back to storing full.

I applaud your logic. I called SeaStar, told them what was happening (wet floor on hot days), and a new cap solved my particular problem.

    Raymarine Rant

For the past couple of years I've been posting answers when folks ask what electronics they should consider for their boats. My standard answer is "don't buy Raymarine". I have a C80 with a chartplotter, sonar, radar and Sirius satellite weather. It's all absolute junk. To top it all off, a...
