    Yamaha Corrosion F250

I thought this problem was only on the F225s? There is a good THT link here: http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-for ... epair.html and a Boat US article here: http://www.boatus.com/magazine/2012/oct ... laints.asp

    looking at 91 Marlin

X2 on the transom. There is a Marlin transom rebuild discussed here http://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27833 I'd also check out the floors well. Also see how much of the gas tanks you can inspect through the deck plates. I had my Sailfish shipped up from NC and it had 2 gallons...

    drain hles for rear seats?

The recess for the center seat in my Sailfish is pitched all the way around so that water won't accumulate. It looks like yours is partially recessed. I had a hatch on a Wellcraft that accumulated a small bit of water like that and I would occasionally just blast a hose there with the hatch...

    Prep Requirments for Barrier Coat??

I went through this last year with my 1994 Sailfish which came up from NC and had never been bottom painted. The thing had sat on a lift for all its life and the gel coat was already dull and chalking so I wasn't too worried about wax or mold release chemicals. Nevertheless, you should follow...

    Bottom Paint

Same story for me - I used Hydrocoat last year, pressure washed in the fall, and only required a but of touch up this spring. My boat had never been bottom painted so I went with the Pettit barriercoat, followed by a coat of red Hydrocoat and finally a coat of black Hydrocoat. I'll never go...

    Missing plastic fitting?

The cockpit drains are larger and drain through large fittings in the gunnels at the water level - two on each side. The ones in question are for something smaller - like a recessed door drain. The cup holders don't have drains, do they? (Mine don't)

    Control Mold/Mildew

I've had pretty good luck with those pellet style dehumidifiers like this one: http://www.westmarine.com/star-brite--n ... 60_002_502 I put two in the cabin and leave all doors and compartments open. The first winter with my last boat I didn't use them and had a lot of mold on the headliner...

    Missing plastic fitting?

The kind of thing that might drain there is the fitting to drain any water around a recessed lid like the lid for this bait well. This is the fitting shown in the right-rear of the photo - not the one on the bottom that drains the well itself.

Was this a members boat? What Happened?

Was the switch that failed a Rule? I noticed that the newer non-mercury Rule switches are reviewed poorly on West Marine with folks complaining about them failing prematurely. I'm installing a Johnson brand set up for my backup bilge.

    Missing plastic fitting?

I did a quick Google and found a few photos - there appear to be drains on both sides. You can see them on the second photo on this ad http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1998- ... -102115139 and you can see the port one on the third photo of this ad: http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1996/Gr ...

Grady Admirers at my Boat Yesterday

I was waxing the hull yesterday at my club and a couple members stopped by to chat. One of them owns a plumbing company and is proficient at welding and was admiring the hardtop. He was noting how it was extremely well constructed in a very-heavy-duty way with all the different tubes and...

    Tarp Damaged Gelcoat, Help!

Bummer - is it just where the grommets were or along the whole length? I've seen that sort of damage on a lot of boats. Your Grady dealer sells gelcoat repair kits that are color matched. If I were you I would take a minimalist approach for now and only repair the deep ones that went all the...

330 Express OK on metal boat stand?

I think you are fine since that is essentially the way bunk trailers support boats. Dry storage racks as well. Trailers use bunks that are wider than those 2X12s but you are not bouncing down the road.

New E-Tec design to be anounced

After close to 10 years in its current design, a major unveiling is scheduled for next month that is reported to be "a whole new design from the top of the motor cover down to the skeg, a whole different look, and reportedly much better fuel economy and performance."...

    2003 F225 Twin O/Bs - MUST READ

In the Northeast, we generally get a lot more than 10 years out of an outboard. Many 10-year-old outboards only have 500 hours on them up here. The boat I sold in 2013 had a 1990 Yamaha 225 that is still running strong and still has great compression. (Edit) I thought about this overnight and...

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

Your initial post said that you are hitting 6000 RPM WOT. Based on that, you are not over propped. However, your slip at WOT is 38% which doesn't seem right. With my 19" Vipers I was only getting 10% slip at WOT. Is there a way to weigh your boat? Could the prop have been modified?

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

I had Viper props but changed to Rebels for better low-speed planing performance. I lost some top-send speed in the process. I plotted the slip for both props here. (The Vipers are the faster of the two props) http://www.etecownersgroup.com/post/pro ... 1279034031 Could the boat be overweight...
