    Decals

Look on eBay Motors There are a couple of companies that have constant auctions for reproduction Grady decals. I have not used them. Just type "Grady" in parts and accessories and they will come up.

    UPS Sucks

No it's just an extra charge There are NO duties on goods manufactured in the US or Canada shipped between the two countries. Believe it or not we have a free trade agreement (NAFTA) between our two countries and Mexico as well. We have to pay our national (GST) and provincial (PST) taxes...

    UPS Sucks

I live in Canada and ordered two new tank senders from Florida Marine Tanks. I asked them not to use UPS but they did against my wishes. They arrived today late. Plus UPS charged me $39.10 to "clear customs" when there is no duty on items manufactured in the US. Fedex doesn't charge this, not...

    Gelcoat application advice needed

Thanks I googled it and got a bunch of sites. Funny thing is the can of gelcoat said nothing about PVA or putting plastic on it. I used it last summer to fill some chips and old screw holes and it set right up.

    Gelcoat application advice needed

I have finished fixing the area under my deck hatches and decided to finish it off with a little gelcoat to make it look nicer even though no one will see it. I followed the instructions on the can and added the hardener following the guidelines for our temperatures here ( ~80 degrees ). The...

Wiper arms - 1992 Marlin Help!

I can't believe my luck. I order wiper blades from Crocker and they arrive and are great except they don't fit. The wiper arms on mine won't fit the replacement blades they sent. The replacement blades are narrower in the mounting area with a hole for a pin or something. The blades are slightly...

    Deck Hatch Issues

Not 5200 Don't use 5200 on anything you might want to remove later. Use 4200 on hatches otherwise those screws are never coming out.

Deck Plate repair over forward gas tank -24' Explorer

Terminology Bob is right. There is a "Bulkhead" between the aft compartment and where the first gas tank is. Grady laid what I call a "cross member" over the top the bulk head creating a "T" structure. The Aft bilge cover and the gas tank cover meet in the middle of the "T". It is made of a...

Deck plate not screwing down tight.

It's probably plywood I have an older Marlin but I believe that area would still be a fibreglass-plywood-fibreglass sandwhich. Pull up the deck plate and inspect the area. If it's not all rotten drill the hole out oversize and fill with epoxy. After it's dry re-drill a pilot hole and put your...

    Help: Marlin Size??

It all depends The variables are going to be the height of your trailer off the ground plus the height of your boat to the hardtop PLUS radar and GPS etc. Length is going to be from tip of your trailer tonge to the back of your engines. If I was building from scratch I would go 20 feet wide by...

Deck Plate repair over forward gas tank -24' Explorer

I had the same experience There are major problems in the quality of the glass around the crossmembers. There are gaps, voids and places where the glass was not properly wetted out. They built the cross bulkheads very strongly and it seems they believed the mass was so substantial they didn't...

    Rubber strips under decking?????

Where do you get it? I pulled up my deck plates and some of the rubber strips are missing. Where does one buy that stuff? I think when the deck is screwed down well the rubber acts like a gasket and adds to the seal. The silicon fills in the gap and adds more sealing.

Deck Plate repair over forward gas tank -24' Explorer

Doing same repair right now I had the support between the two deck plates pretty rotten. I just cut of the top layer of glass and am replacing the patchwork with one piece of 1/4" plywood well soaked in epoxy. I have noticed that anywhere out of sight Grady did an awful job of finishing. Lots...

Where can I buy McGill Rocker Switches?

Crocker Marine come through I sent an e-mail to Crocker. It took them a couple of days to reply but they had my switch for $16.25 and I bought a couple of wiper blades at the same time. Nice people on the phone and they accomodated my request to not use UPS to Canada (terrible brokerage fees)

Where can I buy McGill Rocker Switches?

Thanks My Grady dealer in Vancouver. Said they were out of stock but usually charge $35 cdn and if wanted one Fed-Ex'ed from Grady he would only charge me $100. I said I'd look around. There are some on eBay but not exactly what I want.

    Salvage Boat-2007 Adventure

Thanks again The boat is in Richmond, BC, Canada which is a suburb of Vancouver. If you fly into Vancouver you actually land on Lulu Island which is surrounded by the north and south arms of the Fraser River. The airport is part of Richmond. There are a lot of marinas in the river. The snow...

    Salvage Boat-2007 Adventure

Thanks I'm going to see the boat on Friday morning and will find out more. The guy at the insurance company is not much help. I may be the only bidder. Many of our marinas here are in the Fraser River. It's tidal but the water is fresh enough that no one in the river gets bottom growth other...

    Salvage Boat-2007 Adventure

This 2007 Grady White 20' 8" walkaround is fitted with a 2007 225 HP Yamaha outboard motor, both of which were partially submerged in December, 2008. There is no physical damage to the hull or deck. What would this be worth new? It sank in brackisg water and the engine was not pickled...

Where can I buy McGill Rocker Switches?

I finally traced my forward bilge pump wiring problem to the switch. It worked on "standby" but could not be turned on by switch at the helm panel. I pulled the switch and it was corroded with signs overheating. It failed the multi-meter test so now I need a replacement. Boat is 1992 Marlin and...
