    New Electronics

Honestly - any of the 'big 4' will be fine - (Raymarine, Simrad, Garmin, or Furuno) Some of it comes down to budget, a lot comes down to need (number and size of displays, add ons and other bells and whistles), and finally, which one is most intuitive for you. My boat has Raymarine, but that...

    Has anyone installed a 12" Garmin - GPSMAP 1242xsv in a 228?

Take the template and transfer it to a piece of thin plywood, then cut it out so that what is left is the same size as the unit. Cutting the outside of the lines, leaving you with the middle. You can then dry fit and check clearances etc.

    Melbourne Fl Info

Any members down in the Melbourne / Canaveral area? Have some general questions on fishing in that area - possible for me to work remotely there for a couple of weeks and wondering about fishing options / time of year etc. PM is ok.

    ENGINE FLUSHING

My 2003 F225's sometimes have water flow through the tell tale, and sometimes they do not. This is using the hose port on the engines themselves. My guess is this is due to water pressure differences at the marina.

2004 33' Grady White Express Light Accessories and Navigation 3 questions

LOL - BTDT, ruined the T shirt. It is funny how much better stuff works when you hit the right switch. :D Glad you solved one of the issues, and it cost only a head slap!

Fuel flow sensor 2000 GW 272

You might check the back of the gauge which used to report the fuel flow - if original Yamaha, those wires most likely went to gauges, not the switch panel.

    Meaning of Dash Switch

Is the switch in question attached in that location, or is the picture just the switch cover? It definitely looks like an afterthought from a placement perspective.

    Core Replacement Guide?

There are a number of well documented threads on this site for re-coring panels. Removal of old - depending on how bad, grinder with a flap blade, oscillating tool, or when really bad putty knife. Materials needed core - ply or composite core same thickness as original Epoxy or resin - my...

    line/terminal tackle set up

Pretty similar to my approach with my 30 and 50lb tackle. Hollow core backing with a spliced connection to mono leader. Main difference is that i use a Bimini twist about 2' long rather than the surgeons knot. Offshore swivel knot to a good snap swivel and then leaders are 6-8' depending on...

    Meaning of Dash Switch

It is just an accessory switch. The figure just shows that it breaks a circuit.

2004 33' Grady White Express Light Accessories and Navigation 3 questions

For the delay, yes very possible it could be a faulty switch or a loose connection on that specific circuit. I've had a couple of them go bad over the years on various boats. The switches are pretty standard items and not bad to swap out. You might consider buying a couple spares anyway...

    330 Express Freshwater Washdown Hose

Agree with HMB - once you take out the 4 screws, you may need to pry the panel out, as they can be tight fits. I recall the reading light being in my way a bit as well. It was easier to replace that washdown hose than it was to replace the AC pump in the bilge. Updated thought: one...

2004 33' Grady White Express Light Accessories and Navigation 3 questions

Agree with HMB...that said, most of the spreader lights I'm familiar with are switched with the courtesy light above the helm. In 2008, I believe the location of the switch for spreader lights changed. If the spreader light switch is in your helm panel, it is possible that it is not factory...

adding sonar module to raymarine mfd

What transducer are you working with? That will play into the sonar hub a bit, as it will vary if you use traditional sonar vs. CHIRP, for instance. I have a traditional through hull transducer M164 I believe, and have a CP370 between it and my E127's.

All in, how much was replacing a fuel tank?

Not on my Grady, but on my previous mako - I found that Sunshine Marine Tanks in FL had a better price, including freight than anyone I talked with in NE. The tank was $10 per gallon at time so about 1200 for the 120 gal tank. Can't help on the removal and installation as I DIY'ed all of...
