    Simrad linear feedback unit

The linear feedback unit broke Looking for a replacement lf3000 This is for an older Simrad AP22. I’ve also posted on THT but wanted to cast a wider net. New they are 500 and I don’t want to dump that kind of money on a 20 year old auto pilot. Could also be interested in a simrad ap16 or...

For closure. Bought a second hand fusion unit from THT and installed it after milling up a backing plate from a mahogany scrap lying around the shop. Bluetooth and radio make cleaning the boat so much nicer.

Exploring battery set up and charging options

Panel is installed. Had to wrestle a bit with a couple of the cables but eventually they behaved. Ended up installing the cluster with the bolts on the 3 blocks which did not need wiring work. This provides enough rigidity to work with.

Exploring battery set up and charging options

Funny, when I initially wrote that, the thought about jinxing myself went through my mind... But yes, there is no free lunch. What I would have spent on extra wires for the BS system, I spent on hardware for this one. It is a boat, after all.

Exploring battery set up and charging options

Cut the holes for the 50 amp breaker with a Dremel, and then drilled out the holes for the other 3 breakers. The next puzzle is that with a relatively flexible panel, there are no ‘shoulders’ on the BEP switch boxes to butt against the panel, so the panel will bend when the cluster is bolted...

    Kenwood Controller

My 2003 kenwood did not come back to life this spring. The remote was shot when I purchased the boat in 2019. Having bluetooth is so much nicer.

Exploring battery set up and charging options

Got the panel prepped last night. The cluster came with a template for the holes needed. I did not want to destroy it, in case something went sideways with the first attempt, so I used it to lay out the holes needed. I normally work with wood, where it is usually child’s play to layout the...

    2006 Marlin - Dash Accessory Switch (?)

Another thought it might be the feed to a power block up in the hardtop? 15a would be reasonable for that use - does your boat have overhead compartments where a VHF or other electronics might be installed?

    2006 Marlin - Dash Accessory Switch (?)

The ABYC color guide indicates orange with blue is a power protected feed / GPS. Do you have a GPS antenna? *Obviously, this assumes that whomever wired this, used the right wire for the job *

Exploring battery set up and charging options

Yes, I was unable to find any pictures or write up of this project, which somewhat surprised me. I was able to find a picture where this was done, by looking at older for sale ads for 330's. Your concern about 1/8" is noted - since the span is short - only aboutr 6" vertically, and 19 wide...

Exploring battery set up and charging options

It will be a tight fit, but should work. Little bit concerned about the cables bending enough. Going with a piece of 1/8" black ABS plastic, and flush mounting the BEP and other circuit breakers on it.

    Fusion stereo replacement

just replaced the older kenwood from 2003 on my express. Did not need to re wire but did need to splice the wires for speakers and power. Grady was nice and used solid wiring harnesses, so it was not a huge challenge to do the splicing, as the wire harness was removable, and I could do the...

    Generator removal

Starting to assess what is needed to remove the generator from my 330. Since it is not working, the plan is to break it down into parts and remove piece by piece, until it is gone. Thinking through the connections to the generator and there are 3 systems Fuel. Will cap the fuel line with a...

    Pre-Purchase Survey

The amount of time since last survey is not as important as your knowledge of boats. IMO one of the best parts of a survey is to have an impartial third person go over every part and system on the boat with you. There were so many things that the survey showed me which later I needed -...

    330 Cabin Rod Storage

Mine has overhead storage for 8 rods, 4 per side. I believe that was standard from factory. I've seen other 330's where people installed similar racks on the aft berth ceiling as well.

Exploring battery set up and charging options

After doing some more thought and research, my current plan is leaning towards a BEP cluster, for the added simplicity over BS. Need to document the current configuration tomorrow and then start planning it. Would like to figure out what to use for a mounting panel that looks as stock as...

Exploring battery set up and charging options

Considering changing the battery configuration from the stock 330 set up with a 2 bank system. Reason: occasionally lose electronics when restarting an engine while fishing due to voltage drop. I'd like to have the confidence to shut motors off when offshore overnight. Possible...

Upgrading Yammies - can I keep my steering?

last fall i researched a repower go go from old mechanical motors to new. There were a number of options, including going with digital controls, but retaining the existing sea star steering, which i did. The ignition set up (keys n such) was different, and the gauges are new - ended up going...

Have a 2003 330 and the first casualty of the winter storage is the original Kenwood stereo. Looking for recommendation on a replacement. I've done a bunch of searching here, and most of what I've seen are folks looking to go higher end. Primary use would be bluetoothing playlists from...
