    228 Discontinuation and Bow Pulpit

With the discontinuation of the 228 does anybody know from past experience how long parts will be available? I have plans to add a bow pulpit to my 228 but I was going to wait until after an electronics upgrade, autopilot and auxiliary fuel tank. May be I should be moving the pulpit up the...

Added Seats to My Sailfish Bow

I like it. Add a couple of seatbelts and you have the perfect solution for those rough days when you need more weight forward.

Bronze wool. Like steel wool but any pieces that fall off won’t rust.

    228 livewell question

If you are transporting live bait any distance you need some water circulation to keep them alive. I’m wondering how the water is getting into the bilge from the live bait tank. Under the transom seats? Will check it out next time I’m at the boat.

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

2006 Seafarer 2006 F250. SWS2 15.5x 17 I think. Top speed 41-42mph. Easily planes at 20mph. Max revs 5500-5600. When you say it won't stay on the plane under 20mph is this flat water? If things are at bit lumpy at 20mph especially in a following sea you will find it is falling off the plane as...

    **Removing sealer like Poli Glow

PoliStrip is most probably the best option then. Even if it isn’t PoliGlow there is a good chance it will remove whatever it is.

06 Hull Striping - where to find?

There was a hold-up on the ultra gold. Stripes were sent the day after the ultra gold arrived. There are specific widths of striping so you need to work with that. What I ordered was so close you wouldn’t notice the difference. They use 3M and Avery vinyl. USD $95 per 50ft roll of premium vinyl.

    Cover for Fresh Water Shower

If you are after the stainless steel cap google Scandvik 12153. I got mine through Essen Bay Marine eBay store for $39.95. Don’t have one listed at the moment. It is listed as a new design and you may need to enlarge the hole in the transom. I upgraded from a plastic cap and had to make the hole...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I suppose it shouldn’t be a surprise. If you Google Grady White you get “Grady White Dual and Centre Console Saltwater Fishing Boats”. Over here in Oz the 228 is the largest Grady you can tow without a wide load permit and all the restrictions that come with it. I’m glad I got mine when I did...
