    Trolling Motor for 208

Oh that last one I missed in my search. My bow mount would need to be different as I have a pulpit and windlass. I could see losing the windlass as most of the anchoring where I am at is in only 10-15 feet of water. I hadn’t thought of putting the batteries in the bilge are under the cabin...

    Trolling Motor for 208

Thanks for all the links and thoughts on a gas trolling motors, appreciate that. For my purposes I’m thinking of an electric, bow mounted GPS controlled motor. The bow-mount motors are great for holding a spot over structure without anchoring, controlling a drift in a narrow channel or over...

    Trolling Motor for 208

Any thoughts and especially pictures of mounting solutions for trolling motor and battery locations on a 208 would be appreciated. If I look at thrust requirements it seems that I will need 36v or three batteries to have around 100lb thrust. If anybody is successfully using 80lbs that would...

    208 Adventure Top end

Installed the 14x14p Powertech SCE4 4-blade recommended by Ken at Prop Gods. Running solo with full fuel and canvas, 40 mph @5700rpm, did not need to trim out to the extreme. Overall the boat feels so much more lively. Much better acceleration and throttle sensitivity/control, and easier to...

    Has anyone weighed a 265?

Nice Mustang. Yeah it’s hard to beat an 8.1L engine with an Allison or a Gearstar 4L80 for real work, unless it a diesel. I’d be keeping that Suburban as well. My current boat car…not so powerful but suprisingly useful and reliable. On dry land I am an Alfa Romeo driver. Good for the drive from...

    Has anyone weighed a 265?

Well that’s a lot less than a 265 as pictured! Maybe a little over-estimated but stuff ads up to fast. Boat is 2900, engine around 500, full fuel around 500, hardtop 250?, water 50, anchors (2) and windlass/radar/livewell (on deck, not the fish box)/spare prop/tools/safety gear/10...

    Has anyone weighed a 265?

I’d be keeping that tow rig if possible! New ones are very spendy and the 1/2-ton Suburban has unexpectedly low tow and overall weight carry capacity. A properly optioned new 1/2 ton pickup has a suprisingly high tow, GVWR and GCVWR. But if I was spending that much I’d probably just get 3/4...

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Seems unlikely that you have spun both prop hubs exactly the same but easy while it is out of the water to replace those. Even a little bit of hull junk can cause a huge loss of efficiency. Easy to have it cleaned while it’s out of the water. Might as well get your value with it hauled out...

Anyone Offshore in an Adventure 208?

A bad 208 day A better day A low wind, big swell, longer period kind of day but probably a few bigger waves lurking in there. Unfortunately no 2ft - 6+sec days coming up, these are all 15mi East of Barnegat Light off NJ, but can stay in the Barnegat Inlet or Bay, which can be bad as...

Anyone Offshore in an Adventure 208?

I need to check out the man/dog overboard system and get that installed over the winter. I see that the Helmaster EX systems will pilot right back to a spot, cool - I am practicing doing the mark (Garmin UDH94sv) and return maneuver hopefully just for that cooler that gets launched and not a...

Anyone Offshore in an Adventure 208?

Just some 208 perspective, I was out yesterday a few miles off Barnegat Inlet, NJ. The NW swell was big enough, the larger waves were occasionally eye level when I was standing (I am 5’8”). No breaking waves, just enough spacing, rounded on the back sides so no digging the bow 18- 20mph into...

Anyone Offshore in an Adventure 208?

Edit - now. See your note about the experienced captain saying 20-30 miles! See this, around post 103. https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/2021-adventure-208-build.30958/page-6 Go for it! Now the caveats… I have a recently acquired 208 with a 200 I4, all mechanical controls, in NJ. Have...

    Walk-around vs true fishing boat

I don’t really understand the thread title, btw. Walkarounds were designed to fish, no? Pretty much any Grady has deep fishing cues and is fit for purpose.

    Walk-around vs true fishing boat

I’d think I would be buying an older Marlin vs the newer 232 for what you want to do, the 232 isn’t a great boat for towsports so you won’t be giving up much and seems like you would gain a lot in all the other areas. I have a 208 but was on a Marlin last week offshore. The 218 is a bit...

    2021 Adventure 208 Build

Just looked up where you are located, glad you are far away from the disaster but am sure it feels close. Hope you do have friends or family on Maui. Am looking at your set ups for inspiration along with some other items plucked from 208, 228 and now 218 cousins on my 2021 208 with F200...

    2023 Adventure 218

My 208 hardtop has a 200, good enough and good match, for the heavier 218 with a hardtop I’d go for a 250. I have a mech but I’d go digital if doing solo fishing (depending on how/where you fish), but pricey for the full EX setup and the V6!

    2023 Adventure 218

Looks pretty sweet! I picked up a 2021 208 this summer, love it. Perfect for me. I can see the evolution. More space between the (better seats), wider dash for the electronics. The jump seat cushions are set in, if you take a wave or spray that passenger won’t get so wet. Staying dry in the...
