Wanted to buy - Seafarer 228

I think you're going to be a bit hard pressed finding what you're looking for at under $30k, especially if you need to have the boat shipped somewhere, as shipping alone can cost $4k-$5k+ depending on where you're shipping it from/to. I bought my 2004 GW 228 Seafarer back in October of 2021 in...

    Pursuit vs Grady vs Worldcat

I’m guessing you’re going to get mostly all Grady White opinions considering it’s a GW forum. That being said, while I was shopping for my 228 Seafarer, I was also considering other boats like a 2320 Parker as well as a Pursuit 2470 Walkaround. They didn’t have many of them available and those...

    Cracked lower unit Yamaha 350

I’m definitely thinking a freezing thing. My parents did the same thing when we were kids by leaving the outboard tilted up, got water inside and noticed the crack the next spring. Lesson learned, always leave your outboard tilted all the way down over the winter.

    Grady white freedom 235

I think that the biggest consideration in terms of pricing will be where you're located at, what all the boat comes with and the condition that it's in. If you're on the east coast or the southeast like Florida, prices are typically quite a bit lower than they are out here on the west...

    Fishy responses to want add?

The thing that usually gives them away to me the quickest is the "Joined date". Most of the time, if someone is saying that they, or their "buddy", have something available and especially if they say to email them... I look at the date they joined the forums here. Typically it's usually always...

Towing a GW Adventure 208 One Mile 4x/Year with Chrysler Minivan?

I think you’re going to be well over 5,000 lbs when you include the trailer weight. For comparison purposes… Grady White has a performance data sheet for a 208 Adventure test boat with a Yamaha F200 on it and the test weight was 4,200 lbs. That weight does include persons, so I imagine they...

Yamaha OX66 250 WOT RPM Searching?

Agree with the above comment about the fuel lines possibly being an issue. My uncle's old boat had the same problem where there were pinhole leaks in the fuel lines and so it would start to sputter or run lean and then die on him. I'm a firm believer of starting with the basics first and then go...

    WTB: 209 Fisherman (2011-2017)

Water coming in the boat through the scuppers is most likely an indicator that the rubber scupper flappers are brittle, they aren’t sealing correctly, are warped and/or simply just need to be replaced. My boat was like that when I first bought it and I’d stand in the back of it, you’d have water...

    04 Marlin A/C not Cool

My daily driver car is a 2006 Honda Civic that's bone stock and just hit over 270k miles on the original engine/transmission. It has a small leak in the ac unit to where I have to top it off every year or every other year. I tried the cheap cans from your local auto parts store and they worked...

    WTB: 209 Fisherman (2011-2017)

What's wrong with the 2008 located in NC that I sent before? Too old or a different layout from the newer ones? Looks to be a nice boat, doesn't appear to have bottom paint on it, 700 hours on the motor and is a Yamaha F250 as opposed to a F150-F200, 2017 trailer...

Potential Buyer - Tell me about Grady moisture issues

I believe that they switched over from standard marine grade plywood to the Greenwood XL in 1997/98. Should definitely be the Greenwood XL

Grady White Seafarer 226 for sale

I'd copy the Facebook Marketplace link and put it on here, or a Craigslist link might be easier since not everyone has Facebook, and so that those who are on here as well as interested can look at a few more pictures of the boat. Either way, good luck with the sale.

    2006 228g Seafarer Value

Part of it depends on where you're looking... east coast prices are typically much less than they are out here in the PNW/Seattle area. Like I said, I bought my boat for $26.5k and have seen 3 nearly identical boats to mine sell since then for between $55k-$65k. As mentioned before, a total cost...

    2006 228g Seafarer Value

That seems like a steal of a deal. I bought my boat, a 2004 Grady White 228 Seafarer with a 2004 Yamaha F225 on it @ just under 1k hours and a 2009 aluminum I-beam trailer back in October of 2021 in Maryland for $26.5k. As long as the boat and engine checks out, the outboard doesn't have the dry...

So what was the culprit behind the transom needing to be replaced?

Potential Buyer - Tell me about Grady moisture issues

I would agree with the above statement about how some models will have more of an issue than others will. Unless the boat has damage to it, I imagine that boats like the 228 Seafarer and 232 Gulfstream with their enclosed transom and transom bracket on them are going to have considerably less...

Coast Guard documentation for Gulfstream 232?

Indeed... it's definitely a bigger brother to my 228 Seafarer, though from what I've heard it still seems very manageable operating/trailering on your own. I looked at one that Jacobsen's had for sale years ago and while it was a nice boat, it was a bit wider and bigger of a boat than what I...

    248 voyager with 2002 Yamaha f225

I had an Optima red top battery in my 1965 mustang fastback, of which I bought the battery back in 2008 and it worked great until just under 2020, or over 10 years and it was a great battery. That being said, I've heard from several people on the vintage mustang owners forum that have since...

Coast Guard documentation for Gulfstream 232?

That would depend on the dealer, their location, the kind of fishing/boating that's done locally, weather and so forth. Myself living up here in the Seattle area can definitely attest to the 232 Gulfstream, and walkaround model boats in general, being the vast majority of boats used up here. For...
