Re powering an old Grady .

Guessing you want something more eco-friendly . Honestly the electric option for boats right now is nowhere near realistic compared to gas powered outboards. You can take comfort in that the modern 4 stroke outboards like a pair of Yamaha F200’s are far less polluting to the environment than the...

    208 trim tabs

I’ve had my ‘87 204C for some 7 years and never had a problem getting my boat to trim properly without tabs. It’s got a 225 on back so I don’t know if that makes a difference but it planes without hesitation without tabs. I’d suggest you make yourself familiar with your boat first before you...

    208 Bilge Pump

As your primary pump 3,000 would kinda be overkill, too much. 1,100 is a pretty good pump for a 20’ boat. I understand having the 3,000 as a back up though. Mount that 3,000 with a float switch set a little higher than the main pump. That way should something bad happen it might just make the...

    208 trailer

Remember fuel is 8lbs to the gallon , 60 gallons = 480lbs. then there’s gear and I doubt the factor in the batteries . Go with the bigger trailer. An extra foot or two on its length will only help you on the ramp as well.

What is it doing? Pads rusting to the discs?

Finally a Grady White owner and finally got her back home safely...

You did find a beautiful boat and I’m a little jealous! :) I kinda grimaced when I saw you were pulling it with a uhaul. Not that it can’t do it they are just such pigs on gas. Once home you’ve got a great story to tell plus you did say this was going to be your 10-15 year boat. ;) You won’t...

    finding a balance......moving the batteries.

Wanna see what ethanol can do to a hose that’s out of sight out of mind ? ;) No joke that’s what I found when I pulled the hatch on my new to me Grady years back. :) oh ya, “2” quality clamps set opposed to the other on each connection.

Price check ... slip and storage fees

At over $13k a year I’d expect quite a lot! Heck that’s about 2/3 of what I’ve got into my boat, motor and trailer. It may be a bother to trailer But there’s no bottom paint, the boat stays nice and I only pay a couple hundred a year to launch. That’s some crazy money spent for a little...

    12v coffee maker?

Sorry if I derailing this for a second... We have a generator but our home owners insurance covers food loss due to power outages with no deductible so you gotta wonder whether to burn the gas to save it or let it go and make s claim. The last big storm we had knocked our power out for a week. I...

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

Finding a factory hardtop for a boat that didn’t come with one is as close to impossible as you can get. Your looking at getting a custom top . If your boat shopping and you want one with a hardtop you’re best waiting for a boat that already has one to become available.

    12v coffee maker?

Pay attention to what amperage And watts it can handle. Coffee makers have a surge at startup and use a lot of power. Years back we tried this for surf fishing to make morning coffee on the beach for overnight trips. found out you’ve really got to go big to work with a coffee maker.

    Water in Fuel Tank

If you’ve got pinholes in the tank I wouldn’t fool with it. It’s time to replace the tank. My Grady had a lot of holes under the cross braces on top of the tank. It looked like KyGrady’s tank did. If you’ve got 40 gallons of fuel that’s compromised just get rid of it. It’s not worth risking...

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

With a brand new trailer and being a 20’ boat I wouldn’t think twice about driving out there snd towing it home. A brand new trailer under it is huge. That says you can get it home without issue. Incidentally I put a new Loadrite trailer under my 20’ Overnighter in the end of 2019 and paid...

    restoration pics.

What did you do for the dash? If I see it right did you put in a foam block to glass over the top and back of to give it shape. Then once it’s set up you carve away the foam? That’s pretty slick !

Just when you think their all gone. He...
