Personally I would not delete all brokers on a boat of this magnitude. My main concern would be getting the best boat. I'm not sure what the advantage is? Saving the brokerage fee? Maybe the private seller already built that into their price? But to each...their own.

Is this post a bit suspicious?

Keep in mind that is anything is wrong and discovered later....Money fixes everything.

I have a 228 and totally agree. No hardtop, Motor is over 20 years old and Yamaha 4 strokes of that era are notorious for the internal corrosion issue. I hope he gets it cause it only helps me.

Checks clear electronically now. They all clear in less than 48 hours regardless of in state or out of state.

So maybe $5K or $10 of the total is counterfeit. I would never take that much money in cash.

I'm not sure that a broker would be writing any guarantees against fraud either. It's possible they could be scammed too but if you know as much as they do and do a careful well documented and researched transaction it should be OK. Respectfully very disagree. Good detailing and a clean boat will not cover up corrosion, rust or defects that fresh paint will cover up. Or if components don't operate correctly. I feel good detailing helps to show the overall care a boat was given. Under your rationale I should leave the boat...
