20 year old varnish in tank 208

Just as a heads up, if you pump out a sample and let it sit, you should see two layers, water and gas. If you see 3 layers, you have phase separation and the gas has to be disposed. Using the gas from phase separation can seriously damage your motor.

20 year old varnish in tank 208

So how did you confuse varnish with water? If the tank is half full of water, I suggest you pull the sender and use a hand pump to siphon/pump out the water on the bottom of the tank. You should be able to tell by color and smell when you got most of the water and when yu are pumping gas. The...

    Tank Replacement (New Member)

It is very important to inspect the rods for scratches, corrosion, damage etc. The smallest imperfection can result in a leak. If you can feel it, it may leak with new seals.

    Dual gas input issues

Did you add a treatment for the winter layup? If so did you happen to use a separate bottle for each tank:) Sometimes captains unknowingly leave the cap seal on the fuel treatment bottle and if flows down the fill line and clogs the flow. I highly doubt you would do that to both tanks. It is...

Tournament 192 Bow Eye to Transom Measurement

Get the make and model number of the trailer you are looking at. Go to the manufacturers web page and you will probably find the stern to bow eye spec but more importantly the spec will give a range of adjustment for fine tuning the winch stand location. That range is usually 2 maybe 3 feet. The...

20 year old varnish in tank 208

That stuff looks awful. Regarding the tank in general, that model should have a plastic tank. At least 2001s and newer did. The best approach would be to drain the tank through the sender hole. Add some new fuel (E10 preferably) and hit the seas and doing what you can to stir up the tank. Carry...

20 year old varnish in tank 208

Was the gas you out in ethanol? I think there may be water in the tank since your motor died when getting on plane. In that case the bow is angled up and the gas and water move aft in the tank in effect making the water level deeper. Now the motor may be sucking mostly water. To check, dump...

    Tank Replacement (New Member)

If you have three hydraulic cylinders and you probably do, are all leaking or just the trim (outer) cylinders? The center (tilt) cylinder is a bit more difficult to replace seals and would require another size pin wrench Inspect the tilt ram rods for any corrosion or gauges, etc. If they are...

Coast Guard documentation for Gulfstream 232?

You dealer's statement about the 232 being a best seller is pure bull. Grady has discontinued the 232 due to poor sales. I have spoken multiple times over the last several years to Grady reps about the 232. By a large margin the best selling models have been mid size bow riders.

    Embarrassing Admission/Question

Most likely all is OK. It's important to make sure the line did not get wrapped around the prop shaft, in the space between the hub of the gear carrier housing ( like fishing line can do) On another subject, there was a post a while ago about an audible alarm when a motor stalled. In your case...
