    tilt trim in seastar helm

Friend put West Marine tilt trim fluid in helm, I cannot find the specs on the fluid. Bottle says good for all hydraulic systems. Seems to be working fine. Is it a real problem?

    Starboard question

Ditto on drill holes front and back and plywood blade. A good circular saw/blade a piece of aluminum angle stock and clamps will give a good straight cut. I move the work station out on the grass most of the time and voila the chips are gone next mowing.

    Autopilot Addtion

Best thing I did on my boat. So spoiled now don't like fishing on boats without one. I got Raymarine ev150 with raymarine 7" (all I had room for) mfd. Did the install myself, fairly straight forward except the bleeding of hydraulics. Like it much better than the more popular garmin system...

    3 batteries to 2

Seems like 2 questions here. First adopting new battery technology. Do not have a dog in that fight so no comment, except good luck hope it works for you. Second going without a dedicated house bank, something I would never, ever do.

    broken thru hull

Finished the hose and thru hull. Used 4200 clone and one clamp, that part is fine. Cannot seem to find a compatible drain for the live well (original broke apart during removal). What was there seems to be similar to a bar sink drain, standard plumbing fitting. I'll find something to connect...

    broken thru hull

Noticed the mushroom outside of livewell drain thru hull had broken off. Remainder of plastic was sitting in the hole. Was able to get hose and both fittings (thru hull and livewell drain) out with some difficulty. Pretty much blind one handed as thru hull is behind battery tray and just at...

280 Marlin speed and fuel economy with 4 strokes

3x16x21.5. One thing I have noticed is that trimming is not near as critical for optimal efficiency. It does take longer to get on a plane if I forget and have the engines up a couple of chicklets. Once on a plane trimming up or down does not seem to change much. Unlike the 250 OX 66's...

    Trailer opinions please...

My buddy just brought his trailer to a shop for work, the trailer was marginal for his 26ft Pursuit CC. The guy at the shop gave him the option of going from a tri axe with around 9k load capacity to a 2 axe with 2 6k torsion axles and total of 12k capacity. Increase capacity and save money on...
