    282 Sailfish repower

I have a 2001 with 05 f250s. She doesn't necessarily sit low but the port and starboard deckdrain scuppers are just at the water line. What kind of performance difference are you expecting with the f250s vs the hpdi?

    Cockpit drains...

Ok not to side track thread but just a little update. Getting those hoses off the thru hull was a PITA!!!. Had to use a vibratory tool. Nothing else worked. I originally was going to just take the hoses out along with the thru Hulls, but the thru Hulls but seemed to be bedded in 5200. So I left...

    ATF or Yamaha fluid

I'll be honest I never used my check relief valve and don't even know what it looks like. As silly as it is, I never had a need for it. I will do a Google search and find it and take your advice on trying to turn it without damage. Also I have a manual oil pump that I just purchased to do an...

    Rod storage

A great member on here had actually sent me a template last year I believe. I just never got around to making them. I will search tonight for the template and get back to you. If I find them I'll mail out a copy to you.

    ATF or Yamaha fluid

Yeah I don't see any signs of a leak, sheen on water or full rainbow effect when I've inspected it. But your right it must be leaking from somewhere because my out board drops slowing over a couple of weeks.

    ATF or Yamaha fluid

Same here. Mysterious leak slowly drops outboards over a couple of weeks. I don't see any sign of where it's coming from. I may give a try!!

    Replacing cockpit floor drains

I know this may be slightly different as I have a 282, but I just cut an 8" hole over the weekend on the starboard side wing. I went as close to the deck as I could and as close to the transom door as I could. It definitely widens up a lot. I have about 10 inches depth to work with. I actually...

    Cockpit drains...

I second the fact that depending on the age of the boat, if those deck drains are damaged I bet the hoses are worse. Im just starting this project after putting it off last year. When I seen the condition of the hoses I almost threw up. I'm not joking, I broke out in a sweat thinking all the...

    Bilge pump discharge routing?

Not sure about everyone else, but I've just got into the habit of using double clamps over the past few years. I feel like if it's drilled into my brain to double the clamps regardless of location, then I won't be tempted to "cheat" when doing a repair in a tight spot.

Locate part# aft bench seat tray

I see what you're saying. I called my somewhat local dealer today and the awesome guy there I used to deal with is no longer there and the current person didn't seem interested in helping all that much. So I'm waiting a call back. Not so worried about the seal as I'm sure I'll fabricate a way to...

Locate part# aft bench seat tray

Looking for an addy bench seat tray for a 2001 282. A few guys in here have it on there boat and was wondering if anyone had a part number on it?

    Bilge pump discharge routing?

Glad to see you got it done! Honestly until you dive into it, you're not sure what to expect. But now that it's done you'll have added one more thing to what you can do. If possible try to get another clamp on that hose....both ends pump side and thru Hull. Always good to have for added safety!

    New to me boat

I would be very concerned with the aft bilge area. Bow eye, I would look from the inside and if it checked out then it's of no concern.

    Stereo system - Marlin 300

That's what I'm looking for. That area of the step. I currently have a 6inch access plate and going to install an 8inch speaker. It's not the best picture but I've circled the area I'm referring to.

    Stereo system - Marlin 300

I agree. But was just curious of the actual speaker installation on the steps/walk around itself.

    Stereo system - Marlin 300

Reviving an old thread. Do you happen to have an pictures of the 7.7s installed in the steps of the walk around? I going to be installing mb quartz 8"(good deal on a used set) in the exact location and wanted to see what others have done. I currently have 6" access panels there, so I'm assuming...

Passenger cockpit panel speaker wire routing

I know it's been years on this question, but I was searching for something else and came across this. Hope my answer finds you if you still need it. The wire runs behind the aft berth from the starboard to port side. If you take the large access panel out in your aft Berth, and stick your head...

    Higher Fuel Prices

Let's all hope to have a productive and enjoyable boating season this year. Regardless of the price of gas, it should make each time out there more of a blessing. Side notes I'm curious on what the new regs are going to be with fluke and seabass. Heard a few different options are in the works...

Kicker power cables - cut by unsuccessful thief

You can definitely do that if you stagger the butt connections, make sure it's done neatly and don't be afraid to use liquid and fabric electric tape when it's done. Another thought would be to get a water tight terminal block or wire hub, sort of like the one they use when splicing transducer...
