BTW … I would suggest purchasing a solid pedestal at 12” in height and have it cut to 9” which seems to give great visibility both port and helm. The adjustable pedestal that came with the boat sucks. (It wobbles).
The helm chair came with the boat. I and my wife hated the bench seat on port side. We found it awkward and quite frankly in the way with lousey visibility. So I ordered another Marlin and it does have some stainless hardware on the bolster. No powder coat issues at all on the new or the older...
Looks like I most likely will be riding it out for this season. The seller is going to run out the sesaon until the fall … very disappointing to say the least
Doing some spring maintenance, genset oil change and fuel filter . Remove old fuel each spring and put in fresh. Wax goes on this weekend, should have pictures available next week. Still no word on prospective new boat so I’m preparing as usual.
Hope everyone had a good day to reflect no matter what religious affiliation. Looking forward to the warm weather and fair seas. Good luck to all and have a great season !
With most of the large venue boat shows winding down has anyone got any feedback on sales thus far ? Seen plenty of folks attending, just wondering how many are reaching for the checkbooks in light of higher interest rates and waning trust in the banking institutions ?
… btw one thing is certain if considering or comparing the 283 to your current boat (28 Albemarle). If fishing wrecks or drifting the 283 will out shine the Albemarle hands down. Now on the other hand there will be no comparison when up and running in a sea, that is where the Albemarle scores...
Can’t argue with your assumption that the 283 may be a little easier to push. However I have a 30 Marlin (same hull as the 306) which is probably a little heavier than that 306 and the 250’s move her along at 26-28kts around 44-4500 rpms.
… one thing is almost for sure, you won’t regret...
15’ Taco’s in Aluminum is what came with the boat. Not enough of a spread for my tastes. Last boat I had 20’s triple rigged. Prior to that we had double spreader 28’ trip rigged on my diesel express.
Buddy of mine is using 20’ Taco CF trip rigged and likes those on his 31’ Reg. His are...
Might purchase new poles for the Taco hardtop mounted bases. Personally I like one piece solid poles for many reasons. Was contemplating going with 20’ carbon fiber Lees with the built in rollers. I currently have the Taco aluminum collapsible four piece units that came with the boat. Taco does...
Attended the Atlantic City show yesterday. Some beautiful boats to be seen. Love the smell of fresh gel coat and fiberglass… but not so much the sticker prices. GW had a spread there but nothing larger than the 325 Center Console. No express models just mostly DC’s and CC’s nothing that interest...
It could be weeks or more due to the fact the boat I'm looking at is winterized and stored. Survey etc would need to be performed. I won't make the listing official until all is complete with that sale.
