SmokyMtnGrady hit the nail on the head I have the same experience with my 4 blade prop (PowerTech ofs 15 pitch prop). I have a 1999 Grady 228 with a Yamaha 225 ox66 efi)
I sent the welder a sketch of what I wanted and he built it. I’m in Northern California and he is in Canada but everything worked out like I wanted. Larry was great to work with https://dsswelding.ca/
Here is my 1999 GW 228 sitting in the water with about 100 gal. of fuel.
Don Davis how does the Grady handle the weight
of the Suzuki? I’m thinking of re-powering and doing some research on different engines.
I just installed my custom kicker swim platform bracket with an underneath brace. Next I will bolt on a Suzuki 9.9 high thrust. Then make my own steering mechanism attaching the kicker to the main engine.
Has any one installed a ski pylon on their Seafarer 228? I have a bimini enclosure no hard top. I’m in the process of mounting a 9.9 kicker on my swim platform so I can’t use the 2 transom eye hooks to tow.
Thanks
I had the same problem all of mine looked like the top one. First I sanded it, second I applied Presta cut compound, then a finish compound and finally wax.
Congrats Ky that looks great. If you are going to do it yourself it takes a lot time. I just finished mine in and out and in some areas it required wet sanding with 600.
