Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

Thanks for the heads up. I have not purchased the batteries yet. I have received a NOCO 3 leg 12 volt charger but I haven't unwrapped it yet so I can return it. The battery you pointed me to weighs 66 pounds where the 3 12 volt DC would be 150 pounds. Thats huge when you consider there is no...

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

According to that calculator, I can get away with #6 wire. I put in 30 ft length, 40 amp load and 3% max drop and it gives me #6. Am I doing that right? I haven't ordered the wire yet. I will order that crimper that Chris recommended and some red and black shrink tube.

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

Thanks for those thoughts' fellas. The short pigtail that comes out of the base of the trolling motor is only about #8 but it is only about 6 feet long. I'm thinking I need to hit that plug with a more robust cable. The trolling motor does have its own GPS receiver built in and a hard drive to...

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

I am installing a RHODAN 36 volt trolling motor on the bow of my Glacier Bay cat. I am going to use 3x 12v flooded cell group 24 batteries. I want to locate them a little aft of midships so the cable run is about 14 feet. I would rather have a little extra length than have tight runs with no...

New Facebook Group - non AI

I agree, the Facebook thing is just unmanageable, it seems. There is just so much fake crap and people posting non-relevant stuff, it gets hard to digest. I do wish you luck, but don't let it eat you up and make you mean. :)

Livewell pump runs but it won't fill

If the hose from the pump to the tank has a low sag in it, it will cause a plug to form. That puddle of water will cause the pump to have an air-lock after the boat is pulled out of the water. When the intake is put back underwater when the boat is launched the pump is running in air and cannot...

    Where To Buy Grady Cleats?

brightnight, my apologies, I looked back at the pictures of some of my previous boats and it was NOT my 228 that had the skene chocks, it was a SeaRay Laguna I owned. Sorry for misleading you.

    Where To Buy Grady Cleats?

My 2004 had a set of skene chocks mounted near that single forward cleat to alleviate the chaffing you are talking about. Do you have a picture of the bow area of your boat?

2003 Grady 228 seafarer bait tank

Yes, it is necessary. On my 228 the fill fitting is in the lower part of the tank, so if you turn off the baitwell pump while the tank is full and there is no check-valve in the line, the tank will drain back through the bait tank. This is if your bait tank pump is a centrifugal type such as...

I'm impressed. Very well done. The level of polish of your gelcoat makes me ashamed of myself.

Broken anti-siphon valve on a Tournament 192, how do I get the pickup tube out?

A good way to do your repair should you not be able to remove the aluminum elbow is to install an inspection plate in your tank right where the bad fitting is. Before installing the plate for final is to install the proper size bulkhead fitting in the inspection plate before bolting it down for...

Broken anti-siphon valve on a Tournament 192, how do I get the pickup tube out?

No need to go to those extremes of welding. Totally unnecessary. Outfits like this can fix you up with what you need. This just the first one I saw on a quick search. You will just have to get a repair fitting that does not require a hand-hole access. There are some bolt-on handhole covers to...

Broken anti-siphon valve on a Tournament 192, how do I get the pickup tube out?

Tech dog, Don't get too concerned if you wind up spinning the fitting in the plastic. There are innumerable repair/replacement parts available. The field sprayer guys are constantly changing/adding input/output fittings in poly tanks. Not rocket science, just science in a different business. To...

Coast Guard documentation for Gulfstream 232?

Having worked on the water for many years in the dredging business, where all our tugs, barges, crew boats and such were documented, I highly recommend you don't document your pleasure boat unless you absolutely have to. It is a head-ache you don't need. Any changes you make to your boat going...

Coast Guard documentation for Gulfstream 232?

It would be my guess that the lending company just used the wrong terminology in their request. I would guess they want proof of the vessel is Coast Guard "certified", not "documented". All Grady White boats have a Coast Guard placard in the vessel near the helm. Grady White can produce a letter...

Bait tank pump constantly vapor locking when coming off of a plane if traveling over 25 knots. I have a 33 Express.

Have you checked the hose from the pump to the tank inlet to make sure you have a constant up-grade with no sags to hold a "water-plug" when the pump gets a little gulp of air.

    porta potty

The small line is a vent to let air in as the contents are vacuumed out. You can remove the freshwater tank by unlatching the side latches. Carry the tank to a faucet and refill. You can also just pull a hose into the head and fill it in place.

2004 GW Express Crusier Buzzards Bay

Mustang, if you think this is helpful to a man trying to advertise his boat, telling any potential buyers that there are innumerable other boats like his to look at, is helpful, you have a differing view of what's helpful than I. I just hope the moderators delete all the unhelpful posts on this...
