I had something very similar to what you are having on the same exact motor. Everything worked fine on #2 but the engine would not fire. I ended up replacing my battery switch and all is good now. Never figured out what the problem was but for me replacing the switch worked. Good Luck

Get a set of Burnewiin's, you can mount them and the rod holder itself can be stowed while not in use.

I mounted mine on the port side as it seemed to balance the boat better.

I have the Pooderbuilt on my 228 and it is great. I put a G10 plate under my swim platform for added strength, and I have no issues at all. I did not use the bracket as I do not tow with my outboard on which is a Yamaha 9.9 HT.
