Need to know what to expect - fiberglass work

I completely understand that. Make sure you seal the edges good. The water runs down the rub rail drips right down on it. Also check the brass scuppers in the motor well and make sure they are in good shape with no cracks that allow water in.

Need to know what to expect - fiberglass work

If I was you I would seriously look at replacing that transom cap. I have an Islander that the cap was like yours. I sealed it every year to ensure no water got it. Went to fix the cap when they removed the engines the fiberglass had completely delaminated. The transom was wet as could be. I...

    Transom cap

Young’s Fiberglass is in Marmora NJ. It is just outside of Ocean City. I had some additional work done around the transom and with everything is was around 6K plus tax. They had to cut holes on the top to remove the tie downs on the transom so I had all that fixed and glassed over back to...

    Transom cap

If your going to keep the boat it is a good investment. It is not cheap over 6K when said and done. I did have the shop do a lot of extras to ensure no water gets in. Those little things add up quick. I had Young’s fiberglass do the work and I could not be more pleased. They put it back together...

    Transom cap

Transom almost done looks great. You can see from the first picture how wet everything was. Everything was replaced and glassed completely closed with NO transom cap. The drain holes with the brass tubes were class so they are water tight and new brass tubing on order. The swim ladder was...

    Transom cap

I will do that. I am trying to load some pictures but it’s telling me the file is too large. I may have to get my daughter to do it. I stoped there today to look at it and they are making good head way. They are also doing some additional fiberglass work on some hatches and the transom door.

    Transom cap

i was looking at new motors that what started this. Now there is more where the motors mount on the inside has a plactic cover that Grady puts on there. That all needs to be cut off and fixed. To reinstall the tie downs on the transom two holes have to be cut in the floor near the door on one...

I took my 1998 268 islander in to have the transom cap replace two weeks ago. Pulled both motors off and much to my surprise the transom had a little moisture but it was totally delaminates and separated from the wood. I’ve own the boat since 2010 and sealed the transom cap every season. Now...

    Lee Wishbone outrigger mount

I have a 268 islander. I put the lee wish bone outriggers with the 19.5 foot heavy duty poles. They are perfect for the boat. It is a little tight getting around them but worth it. I angled them so they do not hang past the back of the outboards. I set it up so the pulley attaches to the cabin...

Mounting Lee Jrs on a 1998 Islander

The outriggers are on and look perfect on the boat. The Lee Jr’s look gook with 19 foot heavy duty poles. The heavy duty poles allow me to drag two lines on both poles with no flex. Angled the pole so the tips are inline with the back out the outboards.
