The transom of my '95 268 has seen better days. Removed the twin engines, removed the Bang cap and fiberglass cap. Next I find a piece of aluminum the width of the engine well, ~60 inches in length, mounted on the top surface of the transom (~2") then bends down on the inside of the transom...

What I'm referring to is the fact that the hull/keel doesn't go all the way to the transom...that's what I meant by stepped hull.

No other options/interest?

Not sure my '95 has that U-channel in it. Do you know when they started that? Does your '97 have the stepped hull?

I was thinking of doing something like the in the bilge area and tie it to the stringer(s).

When did Grady start installing the aluminum piece on top of the transom that is tied into the stringers and runs from 1 lifting eye to the other?

Any more pics you could share? I'm interested to see how the transom is assembled with the aluminum in there. Thanks

After finding this thread, my transom looks almost exactly like yours. What was your final decision on the repair?

That's a great pic, any more picks showing the inside of the transom? Mine is cracked right at the ends of the bang cap, maybe I can through bolt something to strengthen it... Yeah, there's movement, I try not to look at it....
