    Divorce and my grady

Yeah, man, hang in there. There is nothing like a day on the water to make your cares disappear, at least for a little while. I was married to a wonderful woman in 1968. She was killed in an auto accident in 1970. Devastating, to say the least. I remarried to a wonderful woman in 1976. We...

My son, an HVAC tech, says low on freon.

    Engine over rev

No, I think your engine can handle that without damage if your oil is good and it did not overheat.

    2 Little Gradys

As I said, I would rather clean up 10 cars than one boat. I would have stayed around to check out the bachelorette party but my wife had other plans for me.

    Thermostats

I will now. Problem is the marina hoses have the nozzles on very tight to prevent theft. Got me a pair of vice grips aboard now just for that.

    Thermostats

Folks, I had a problem with my F200 Yamaha on a 208 Adventure overheating. I would run it for about 25 minutes at 3500 RPM and my alarm would sound and the engine would cut back to idle. I decided to check this out myself. I replaced the water pump impeller over the winter and now tackled the...

    Oil

Nothing wrong with Penzoil synthetic. I have been told that Techron and Ring Free are basically the same but Techron has a lower concentration of theactive ingredients so you have to use more. I'll stick with Ring Free. Now, excuse me while I go change the bad thermostat on my F200.

    towing my boat

8'6" is the actual limit (102 inches). If your boat exceeds that you can get permit information here http://www.mhd.state.ma.us/default.asp? ... sid=level2 Remember, you must measure at the widest part of the boat.

    Marine Gathering Permit Fee

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley (D) wants to institute a "marine gathering permit fee" if you are going to have an event or a raft-up of more than 50 boats. For those of us that are familiar with O'Malley, there is not a thing in Maryland that he won't tax. Disgusting!

    208 owners

Like Grady Crazy, I run my 208 on the ICW and the rivers and bays in coastal SC. We have the exact same set up with Yamaha F200 and a hard top. We even keep at the same marina, although I have never met GC. It is the perfect boat for my small family. I check here once or twice a week and enjoy...

    HiltonHead boathouse?

Trailer......in South Carolina, title and license plate are not needed. Make sure you get the required paper work for your state or you will have problems if your state requires tag and title. The boat and the motor each have a separate title in SC.

How to change 4-stroke oil without making a mess??

For Yamaha owners, a nice little video tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9jN4Ap0cms

    Adding a 2nd engine

I agree. Tow Boat came 10 miles offshore to get my Adventure when my water pump went south. They were there in less than an hour.

Floor covering for a Tournament 190

I use it on my 208 so the dogs can have good footing. Don't have it under the helm.

    1978 GW center console issues

You have a 204 Hatteras. There are so many things to check on a boat that old that I would probably have a professional give it the once-over.

    Bad day on the water

Thanks, Rainmanker. The shop manual is pretty straight forward and it tells you what to grease and what to Loc Tite. The pump kit includes a new key so that won't be a problem. If I can keep my '75 Mercedes running for all these years, I guess I can do a Yammie water pump.

    Bad day on the water

It was a beautiful day here in the Low Country and I took my 208 out for a pleasure cruise, just me and a few cigars and some Gator Ade. After about and hour, my overheat alarm went off and my F200 Yammie backed off. After a few minutes I started her up again and noticed that she is not peeing...

Re: Sturgeon Jumping Yep, Greatgrady, have seen them many times in the ICW just above the US17 bridge. Boaters beware!

    Dry dock damage

    Lower unit replacement

DIY or taking it to a shop? Lower units are not that expensive and not that hard to install.
