    MRD E-Zorb

I had quite a bit of separated fuel in my Edgewater a few years ago. Startron did nothing to help this issue. I finally ended up removing the sending unit cover and pumping the fuel out into containers with a hand pump. Major pain in the butt however the separated fuel settles in the bottom...

    Cabin: Plastic Headliner cracks

I agree with Fishtales in that it has something to do with expansion and contraction. I looked at a bunch of 265's last years. Some had cracked headliners, and some didn't. Mine wasn't cracked last year but when I got down in the cabin this spring there is a crack over the bathroom door about 6"...

    Grady v. Scout

There is a Grady dealer here in CT that used to sell Scout. They had so many quality control issues with their boats that they finally dumped them after many years of repairing Scout boats after the sale which Scout would not pay for under warranty. They are pretty boats but I don't think...

    yamaha HS4 blade props

Check with Ken at Prop Gods. He will probably say that you'll have to down in pitch to 15's. A set of Rev 4 15's is about a grand new. He may have some other suggestions. Bill

    Gas Cap Safety Chain Replacement

I bought some coated 40lb test black stranded wire crimped a loop in both ends and put them on this weekend. No swivels but it seems soft and looks fine. I'll keep an eye on them this year but for what they want to replace the cap etc I'll deal with the wire.

Prop Size for 200 HP SWS 1995

    I would try a Mirage Plus 15 1/4 x 19

    Removing hardtop & windscreen - 228 Seafarer

I was going to say the same thing when I realized you hadn't bought a boat yet. Also, a hardtop on a 22' boat is nice to have but not essential equipment. If you're drift fishing on a breezy day sometimes it's nice not to have a sail on your boat :)

Upgrades for 09 season on my 265

Nice work! Great ideas for lighting too. I will be adding an external VHF speaker this year and upgrading electronics. Other than that I'm making sure everything is right mechanically. Your boat looks great!

    Batteries set up on 265

Thanks for the info. I've gotten 6 years out of a set of Exide Nautilus 27's. You start to get nervous about them though. I think a lot of it has to do with storage and maintenance. I always take mine off the boat bring them inside, check the fluid level and charge them 2 or 3 times over the...

    Batteries set up on 265

My thinking on the port battery was that I would use that side to run the Hydroglow off if we're overnighting. And I would have a little more reserve power there in case the starboard bank ran down to the point where it couldn't start my engine and I would need to jump it. So it was insurance...

    Batteries set up on 265

I just re-installed my 3 group 24's. It's tight in there and I think I will put a group 27 on the port side when it's time to buy a new one for some added power but will probably stick with the 2 24's on the starboard side. Bill

Raymarine Auto Pilor S1000 Pump Location

You could make up a panel for the face of the electronics box in front of your helm and flushmount your electronics on it. This would allow you to put the pump inside the box in back of your electronics. You might also call Boats Inc as they've probably rigged a few AP's on 265's. Bill

    265 Express w/ 200hpdi's

So Marc, What happened with the deal on the 265? If you get the boat in the 30's it's an absolute steal. I had a signed deal on tha same boat last year at this time for 50k but there were a few issue that came up at sea trial and the owner did not want to fix them so I moved on. We ended up...

    Garmin vs Lowrance vs Raymarine

I wouldn't put another Lowarnce unit on a saltwater boat. I had an LCX15-MT on my Edgewater. Burned out 'ducers like crazy. Then the display went dead after 3 years. They replaced it for $268 but had way too many issues with that unit. I finally put a Airmar 'ducer on and that seemed to solve...

    Horsepower requried for a 1988 20 Overnighter

I've had a few 20 footers and I always thought 200HP was overkill until I bought my last boat; a 20' Edgewater with 200 Yamaha SWS. A 200 pushes a 20 footer so easily and at a lower rpm that it doesn't burn much more fuel than a 150. A 175 should be fine but a 200 would be the optimum engine...

    Raymarine autopilot for 265?

Funny you mention the tech support. I called them yesterday at lunchtime with a question on what Nav chip to buy. Couldn't get thru and I got a msg saying that they have 30 minute email response time so I put the question in an email. Left work at 4PM and hadn't gotten a response yet. I was...

    Raymarine autopilot for 265?

I've been on a couple boats with Raymarine autopilots and they seem fine. One of the guys set his on a zig zag pattern while we were trolling along the edge and that seemed to work pretty well. I know the Garmin units are in the $2500 range and was hoping to get out of it a little cheaper than...

    Raymarine autopilot for 265?

I just picked up a C120 and Radome for my Grady 265. That shoots the upgrade budget for this year but I'm thinking of adding an autopilot next year. Can anyone tell me what Raymarine unit is recommended for a 265 w/twin 225's? Thx, Bill

Lost the prime in my freshwater system

I took the panel off in back of the head first and pulled off the line there. It had water in it so I took off the access plate in front of the helm chair and I was able to reach down and remove the in line and strainer. Once I took it apart and cleaned the screen it pumped antifreeze within...

Lost the prime in my freshwater system

Yes, the pump is running. It was pumping fine until it ran out of freshwater. I suppose it could be plugged up but it seems more likely that I ran it dry and it needs to be primed.
