Gulfstream Shopping - potential bracket issues?

That's usually not a good sign. I believe I see some cracks and possible delamination. Proceed with caution.

    Welcome aboard.

Is there a rule of thumb you use for rough seas?

Wave period three times wave height or more. Not familiar with the west coast but that rule should keep ya safe. Anything over three feet in height, I'd stay nearshore.

Transom rebuild 1995 Sailfish 272 sportsbridge

When mine was done back in '21, the repair shop cut the top off and removed everything from the inside leaving nothing but the gelcoat and glass in place. Then they cut the stringers back a bit and replaced everything with coosa board and glass. With everything exposed, it was a great time for...

What am I looking at? Gulfstream 232

Is there a primer switch on your dash? If so, it would toggle back of forth from port to starboard. If you have that switch, those are the primer pump activated by such switch. If you don't have a primer switch...I can't help ya. Good luck with the sled.

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Food for thought. The pair of Zukes is gonna be 200+ lbs of extra weight on the stern of your boat. Its not a question of if the transom can take the weight. It's whether the scuppers with still be above the water line after that extra weight is added.

    Fuel Fill Hoses...Who's Changed Theirs?

Actually, mine ended up being a leak in the electric primer pump. Found out I didn't need them with the new engines so just deleted both pumps.

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

I had the 200 Yammy Saltwater Series 2 stokes on mine. Switched to the Mercury 225's. Apples vs oranges in performance. Fuel mileage increased slightly but responsiveness was huge compared to the 200's. One other thought, my hull is stepped up the last two feet. Just curious if yours is the...

What have you done to your Grady lately?

Just put mine in the shop for a complete re-wire. Way too many things direct wired to batteries and things that should be on a switch have been by-passed or whatever.

Grady White Marlin 28 1994 balsa hull

The code "48x 4b8" likely refers to a specific type or density of Balsa core material, used in composites for its high strength-to-weight ratio, often in marine or wind energy applications, with suppliers like Sky Composites (Cobalsa) offering similar products, indicating it's a common...

What year model are the two you are looking at? I believe that the molded in seat vs the fish box change was made around 2005. Is one a 272 while the other a 282?

Replacing floor drains on a 282 Sailfish

I did the port side hoses and drains by removing the live well and I cut in a doorway. Crawled through the cut out and was fairly easy. The starboard side I replaced when I had to have the transom replaced due to wet/rotting wood. I've seen where others have cut-in access covers on the starboard...

Joining the list of Grady owners who have to repower or give it away…

Repowered my 94 Sailfish in 2021 with Merc 225's and haven't looked back. Good luck with your decision.
