Lorance HDS 7 - older model

Thank you both for the information. The transducer has been replaced twice and the same result occurred with loss of the bottom. I think the transducer is lower that the hull - hard to know as its located below the platform and boat is always in the water. The December 2021 replacement...

Lorance HDS 7 - older model

I have an '2004 - 228 and thanks to everyone on here for guideance. I am no DIU'er but do try my best. Just had the 250 Suzuki serviced and had them replace the scuppers based on advice here - they have been the same ones since i have had this sled for the past ten years. Maybe never...

    Missing cup holder drain tubing

My '04 228 has a drain tubing that is attached to something below the deck. Tried to replaced one of the cracked cups with the metal cups but it would not fit. So far I put clear tape on the outside of the cracked cup until I come up with a better repair solution. It is starting to rain here...

Poor Grady-White support for older boats.

I think that this board is a great place to obtain information from other GW owners. I have an old Mercedes SL and have obtained information from the Benz forum or just search you tube videos for some DIY projects. A GW word search on Yahoo or Google may be helpful too. Depending on a...

    GW 228 - Scuppers

Checked the hoses on the 228 and they looked very solid - perhaps they were replaced by one of the prior owners. Will have the mechanic review this in the fall though. Water flow is very good now. steve

    GW 228 - Scuppers

Dennis The grate/screen is the crosshair type thing. Went back to the boat and I think I got it fixed for now. At first put the hose with some soap and nothing came out the scupper. I could see just a little bit of soap color in the water but water from the hose was still on the deck. Then...

    GW 228 - Scuppers

Dennis Thanks for your response. The floor drain does not have a screen - just plastic and I can put my fingers in it. Last time the boat was out I checked the rubber scuppers and they looked ok and opened and closed. I will put the hose on the drain on each side with some soap to see what...

    GW 228 - Scuppers

Have a '04 228 that i have for about ten years. I read this forum all of the time. The scupppers have never been replaced. I am not a "do it yourselfer" and the boats is at a marina and gets hauled once a year for engine service and bottom painting as needed. Never have had a serious issue...

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

The other item is that whenever anyone is on the 228 they have to wear a life vest. I rarely ever see others doing the same. Years ago a coastguard boat came next to me asking I had a problem - I just said I always wear one. Better safe that sorry. Sturg.

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

We have a 228. When I got the boat I talked to someone and was told they keep the cokpit plugs - plugged when they fish in the ocean. I did the same when I went out and left them plugged up permanently. - Have not seen a discussion about the cockpit plug area on this board. Sturg.

    New 2019 engine on a 2023 GW?

I bought the 250 DP AP in March of 2019 - so the five year warranty runs out next year - now has 370 hours on it. should I suggest them to do a big review this coming November to see if there are any glaring things wrong that would be under warranty? steve

    Repower for Seafarer 228

Just looked it up in the user manual and it did say 89 - that's what i've been using from the start. Sure would like to use regular and save forty cents a gallon but just think what ruining the engine would cost. Have not been out for a long time because of the rain and winds but went out...

    Finally!!

I have the same boat and year as Mustang65 but with a 250 Suzk - fly by wire and a four blade prop. The four blade was chosen by the place it got repowered. I recall asking about three verses four but that is what they decided on. I think I have gone over 35 mph once at maybe 4,000 rpm but...
