    Windshield cleaning products -306

I see that RainX has a product called RainX Plastic. It is different than the original RainX. The manufacturer says Not to use RainX Plastic on glass . So maybe it is OK for clear marine plastics but I am not sure

    Windshield cleaning products -306

Maybe things have changed but products like Strataglass specifically stated that using RainX on their products will void the warranty. Does the statement you mentioned specify plastic windshields or plastics and windshields (which are usually glass) ? I will try to do some research.

Do not use Rain-X. If the plastic has UV coating, Rain-X can damage it. I would look into Plexus.

HELP with broken flange on drain plug in fish box

Is the part metal? If it is, most likely it is brass if it came from a plumbing supply shop. Brass is usually a bad choice for salt water environments (assuming yo are boating in salt water.)

    Wet & Forget for cushions/cabin

I have found that putting a DampRid container in the cabin and/or head greatly reduces mildew buildup. Depending on your weather, you may need to replace the container or drain it during winter layup. Which Wet and Forget product did you use?

HELP with broken flange on drain plug in fish box

Forgot to mention. Is this a livewell or a fish box. The diameter of the hole may be important if you have a standpipe that you insert to fill the box with water. If there is no standpipe or plug, the inside diameter of the hole is not critical.

Motor Mount Fiberglass Missing: Should I be Concerned?

The flaking/peeling of the bottom paint on the right side of the first photo below the green stripe is the same thing as what you see on the bracket. The bracket should be sanded or blasted, primed with a suitable primer for metal and followed by new bottom paint, In general copper based bottom...

I don't see the stringer spacing in the diagram. That is most important for bunk or roller trailer setup. Maybe I missed but these old eyes are straining to read all the text:)

    305 express propeller question

It is important that you know what your goals are since one factor may affect another. Typical factors include, fuel economy (particularly cruising range fuel efficiency, WOT speed and revs, low end torque (hole shot) low end efficiency ( trolling) etc. You can't maximize everything:( I don't...

2000 Adventure 208 fuel tank test

If you are replacing the steering cable, note that the cable can not be able to be pulled out aft without moving the motor. This is true if the cable is connected at the helm. I suspect that if the cable is not connected to the helm it may be possible to pull some cable forward to get the cable...

2000 Adventure 208 fuel tank test

The old hoses probably will be very stiff making the pulling of the new hose difficult. You need to remove the side panels at the helm and look for the hoses. If original, there can be a tie wrap or two in the area below the deck all the way to the starboard side. Those will have to be removed...

    Corroded thru-hill fittings

Inspect the thru hulls for yellow spots or soft spots Bronze as it ages can 'corrodes' but doesn't rot away like other metals. It can change into a different alloy that is fragile. If that happens, it's time for replacement.

    Adventure 208 steering

Screw the nut down until about 1/4 inch space to hub or until nut is even with or slightly above the threaded shaft ( to avoid the hammer blows damaging the threads) Pull up hard on the wheel. Some folks use a piece of 2x4 for leverage. Give the nut a good wack on the nut. Repeat if necessary...

2000 Adventure 208 fuel tank test

The tank in that model is plastic and normally can last a long time. Gas fumes after filling can be a symptom of old permeable gas filler hose and/or vent hose If you get the odor only after filling, that can mean that the hoses need replacement. Odors all the time can indicate a leaky tank

    Start/stop green LED stays illuminated

An external issue with shore power or stray current could result on small voltages on the ground bus. I would not expect that to be enough to light that LED but I would recommend checking out the isolator and check for stray electrical or galvanic issues. I suggested removing the shore power...
