This gives me a good idea, I have Hydro-dipped my GPS covers. I bet they can dip the whole thing! and the covers have stood up well to sun and weather. Heck, they dip whole fenders on cars! Now to just think of a color or pattern.......Carbon fiber!
Interesting idea! I might toy with that. I think there are multiple other parts on the 265 that are the same plastic. Im specifically thinking of the rear corner bins. those are removable and I could paint the bottoms as a sample. would never see it if it didnt work!!!
Yeah I noticed that as well. Mine really looks like trash, and since my Eisenglass (sp?) is removed seems like removal of the windshield would be doable. We will see if i get any further on this. one of many things I "want" to do vs. "need" to do! Haha
Question, anyone painted their dash cowling on a 265 express to address the discoloration? Mine is not only yellowed like this one but the clear lamination is blistering. Would it be best to just sand it down and paint with some sort of plastic rated paint?

For sure! I guess my best bet is to just build a mockup and see where it fits. Right now I have to crawl up the side of the boat and try and reach over to put rods up there and in our west coast swell I have almost fallen trying to hang on from up there!!
Anyone with a 265 or similar ever installed an aftermarket Rod Rack like this? The origional on mine is mounted on the roof and they site at least 8 inches higher. I am a shorter guy and thought this might be a suitable replacement? What are your thoughts. It could be that this may be too short...
I ordered through Welding World and four weeks manufacture is accurate with delivery. They were great to work with and have many specs on their website. If you get the tanks first then no down time. A two week removal and install was totally doable for my 265 Express. It depends on your model...
Yes my "Stereo" has power when the PERKO switch is off. I quoted stereo because a long time ago I swapped my typical stereo for a bluetooth reciever that powers my speakers. I didnt think about it at the time but when I get on the boat i hear an audible BLOOP-Beep which is my phone connecting to...
Seasick, you mention something that peaks my interest. "Stereo memory feed" I have noticed that my stereo does stay hot when all perkos are off. Do you know where that ties in to the batteries? I want to run that to the main Acc feed to eliminate one additional draw. Thanks.
My current way of dropping for Rockfish is to do exactly that, stern to the waves. But I have to run back and forth to turn the helm to keep us mostly going the same direction. I was just thinking of taking one additional input ( Steering) out of the situation. For us, we have quite a bit of...
Im thinking about upgrading my autopilot and using a furuno In "Sabiki mode" it sounds much better for holding position since there is no additional motor and it uses your existing stuff. We will see.
No rubber strips. I added two 3" strips to the bottom with 5200 and small rubber at each holdown block w/ 5200
It is the vertical with float style. Im good with it.
I love the tanks. I have only had them in for a few weeks as of now so time will tell but my guess is years of great use so no complaints so far. I can it seems like the fuel senders are a little off but in the conservative way. I calibrated them at empty. Filled 10 gallons and they still read...
This looks like them. I ordered mine (GW 265) from welding world and they were the exact tanks.

Thanks for the link. Yeah the AP worked but now has a "Seatalk" Error and will not function. I figure with it being 15 + years old i might be better off replacing it. There is also some sort of electrical rod mounted to the seastar tilt that is very corroded. Must be part of that old system.
