    Hypothetically..would you rather

Don’t go new at the same or similar size. Your boat is not really that old at this point and you will end up being disappointed after the initial shine wears off as it will do the same thing as what you have. Move up if you can find what you are looking for. With the increase in size you...

2004 33' Grady White Express Light Accessories and Navigation 3 questions

The advice above is sound. I would look for a missing connection at one of the batteries you replaced. For the fresh water: First, the fresh water pump needs to be turned on for you to read the tank level. Beyond that, are you sure you aren’t loooking at the holding tank level indicator?

    Transition to 275 or 285 from 225.

Both boats will be a significant step up in sea-keeping from your current ride (Not that there’s anything wrong with the 22. It’s a fantastic boat.). However, the beam of the 285 really changes the game and if you are looking to go out in some rougher stuff it’ll really make a difference. You...

    300hp on a 250hp spec'd boat?

There are only 3 reasons I can think of not to go over rated horsepower: 1. Too much weight for the transom/waterline (Etc) - NOT the case here 2. Too much HP for the hull (Yes, that is a real thing) can make the hull unstable at high speed - NOT the case here 3. IF you have an accident...

    283 vs 306 canyon

Top speed on the 306 with 350’s is only 58 if it is stripped, no paint, etc. It just doesn’t go that fast in the real world. You are right that these are not, nor are they meant to be SKA boats. They just aren’t built for that, They’re heavy, wide-body boats. However, the 350’s certainly...

    283 vs 306 canyon

I don’t think you need to run it to surmise that 40% more HP swinging bigger props and an additional 3-5% total running weight will result in improved speed. It will without a doubt. Where that speed shows up is more of a question. The 350’s top out in the low 50’s (52-53MPH) in the real...

    283 vs 306 canyon

I’m with you. Efficiency is a nice but coming from the 360 this thing Burns about 1/2 the fuel at a higher cruise speed and lower RPM. I don’t care much about speed either. I cruise around 32-33 MPG burning about 26 GPH. I can do better if I want but that’s the sweet spot for me. I don’t...

    283 vs 306 canyon

You did. That was a sweet boat with only 75 hours on it. This is my second time with this hull. I had a 2000 Marlin at one point with twin 225 2 strokes. It’s a beast of a hull. Not very efficient (or fast) IMO but can do almost anything you ask of it. Very happy……And I downsized from a 360!

    283 vs 306 canyon

The above description about availability and years is very accurate. When I was searching for a 306 I looked at and ran with both 300’s and 350’s. The above about torque is also accurate. The 306 I looked at with 350’s were series “C” so no issue with reliability but for a variety of reasons...

    283 vs 306 canyon

Get the 306. I have one. I‘ve run a 283. Both great boats. 306 is a beast compared to the 283 though. It’ll run fine with 250’s unless you are trying to race someone. I had a 300 (Marlin) with 225’s (2 Stroke) and it was just fine. Love my 306.

    330 verses 360

I’ve had both. My 33 had twin 225’s and my 360 had trip 250’s. I’m not a fan of the 350’s and would not want it with twin 350’s. My trip 250’s cruised at .8 MPG @ 4500 RPM and 30 MPH all day regardless of load. if I was buying one today the trip 300’s would be my choice (unless buying new)...

    NizPro ECM Flash

It is real, it does work, but the effect depends on the motor. Some motors see significant increases while others are more subtle (IIRC the 250 gets a nice bump b it the 300 not so much). It will void the warranty. They are well known and widely used though. Search the internet and you will...

    Grady 360 Express 2008-12

It could be. I have no idea where it went but if you go look at it and send me some pics I’ll be able to tell you. Pursuit makes a good boat just like Grady. I‘ve always liked the Grady’s better. The 360 is an absolute beast and mine ran great with just trip 250’s. I have never seen a...

What is clear film peeling on hull?

Is your hull smooth? That looks like some kind of tape…..Shrink wrap actually….It has threads (Not real threads, but strands). Hard to tell from the pic. Is the hull smooth where you peel it off? That doesn’t look like gelcoat.

Port of Egypt Marine, Inc. (631-765-2445)

My family and I have been dealing with POE and the Leiblein family since the mid 70’s. 14 GW’s and a bunch of fun later and the place just keeps getting better and better! Mike and the POE team are a true, down to earth, honest marina who loves what they do and makes sure their customers get...

    GW 307 Freedom Head Operation

I’m 99% sure it is seawater. Easy way to tell: Check your seacocks. If one is labeled “Head” it is seawater. It must be open to use the head (And flush). There will most likely be another one that says “Head Discharge”. That is to pump overboard using the macerated where legal. You don’t...

    Survey for 2003 330 Express

The bang plate is the aluminum cap on the top of the transom between the engines and the fiberglass. That boat will cruise at 30 MPH at 4500 RPM all day long in real world conditions. Expect 1.1-1.2 MPG. That is a properly running boat with a clean bottom and the correct (stock) props.

    Engine woes...

I hear you…But, if you did that ;last august and ran the engines dry last week then you should check to make sure the separators are primed. don’t be fooled by some gas in the fuel bowl. I still think there is crud in one of the filters but if the separator isn’t full the engine won’t run.

    Engine woes...

You mentioned you replaced both water separators. Pull the one for the engine that is not starting and validate is is filled with fuel. If it is not, fill it with fuel and re-install. Then try cranking the engine..
