    Express 305 Cabin head room?

Measured and it was 6'2". I'm 5'10" and the roof is only a few inches above my head. I would think you would be walking head bowed to move around.

    Express 305 Cabin head room?

Hey Joe, I will go measure the cabin headroom on my 305 today. I really doubt that it's 6'4". I owned a Marlin and then purchased the 305 Express 4 years ago. When I bought the Express I did it for some of the same reasons you mentioned. I liked the inside cabin design better and like the...

    2011 305 express

You've already received some great advice on comfort levels offshore. As for the 305 you will love the boat. I bought mine three years ago and have never regretted the decision. It has a great ride, lots of creature comforts and an acceptable cockpit size for fishing. I love the center helm...

    Grady 305 Performance

Re: Grady 305 Performance ??? All I can add to my previous post is that for my boat the 17" blades are the bomb. I hit the recommended WOT, have better hole shots and get better fuel economy.

    Panda Generator Maintenance

You can get the 25 amp fuse at any auto or marine store. It's simply a 25amp automotive type fuse. If the fuse goes out you won't have anything at your panel.

    Marlin Lists to Starboard

The other thing you can do is simply add ballast to the other side. As I've added equipment to my 305 I keep track of how much weight it's adding to the starboard or port side. I then add that much ballast to the opposite side. Buckshot from a gun store makes for great ballast.

    Panda Generator Maintenance

I would advise all of you to take a very careful look at your hot lead where it comes in through the base of the generator housing and then goes up the side and around the front up to the starter. I was blowing relay's on a regular basis and also the 25 amp fuse from time to time. I couldn't...

    Downriggers

Sounds like you're trying to sell Gimbel mounts. As I said I wouldn't use them fishing 5 or 6' booms or with over 10 lb weights. I have seen downriggers bend the gimbels with 12 lb weights and 5' booms. Especially when fishing deep which is what we do.

    Downriggers

Gimbal mounts work if you're using a short boom and no more than 10 lb weights. Out here on the West Coast we fish with 5 to 6' booms and 15lb weights. There's no way I would use gimbal mounts. I have my Cannons mounted on the port and starboard gunnels and use backing plates made of 1/4"...

    Grady 305 Performance

Re: Grady 305 Performance ??? I have a 305 Express that I bought new in 2007. I had a Marlin prior to that. My Marlin was always faster than my 305 and it really bothered me as they're both the same exact hull. My boat like your's came with Yami 250's swinging the same 15.25 x 19 SS blades...

    Documentation Question

I have a 305 Express that I had to document when I purchased it new. This was required by the lender. As stated it's much like a title on a house. Usually lenders don't require documentation until purchase price starts to go over $100,000 at least. Here in Washington we have to register the...

how often to get boat detailed....

You should do a good complete detail at least once a year. That is to include polishing and buffing out any scratches, oxidation etc. You should put a good paste wax like Collinite Fleetwax at least every six months. Even better if you do it every 4 months. Remember with wax the more you use...

    Marlin Reverse Polarity Problem

If you're not getting the reverse polarity when running the generator then the problem in my opinion lies either in your shore power cord, the place where your plugging in the shore power cord or possibly the breaker that's under your starboard gunnel. If it was a problem with the 120 circuit...

    odd smell from the bilge

I have a 305 Express and have never experienced the foul odor smell you're talking about. The first thing I would do is check the hose connections for your holding tank. If one of the inlet/outlet hoses is loose or if the vent hose is loose that would allow odor to escape from your holding tank...

    Kicker question

I have a Yami 9.9 on my 305 Express. Troll for salmon here in the Northwest with it all the time. Usual troll speed for me is around 2.5 to 3 kts. Will run all day like that. I have a nozzle on it which helps to improve the thrust even more. I easily troll in wind up to 10-12 knots and can make...

    Express 265/305 v. Marlin 300 v. Chesapeake 290

Don't know much about the 265 Express or the Chesapeake. Have owned the 30' Marlin and presently own the 305 Express. So I can give an opinion on those models. The hull is the same and the ride was the same to me for both boats. Marlin pros for me were the cockpit is about 12 square feet larger...

    Shower sump pump ?'s

A gallon of water is way more than enough to activate the sump pump. Look at your DC panel. In my 305 there's a breaker for the shower sump. When turned on the float should activate the pump when water enters. If not then check power to the float etc. You can also lift the float to test if it...

    Marlin Trailer

I would recommend no less than a 14,000 lb carry capacity for your trailer. I have a 305 Express with 250's and when loaded with fuel, water, ice and supplies for trips it weighs over 13,200 sitting on the trailer. The current trailer I have is a triple axle aluminum with a rated carry capacity...

My freshwater pump keeps going buuuurrrrrrpp!

Pump running when not asked is always an air leak which allows the system to lose pressure. I have on 07 305 Express and have had several times the pump will start cycling. Every time this happens I always find a lose hose connection etc. One time I found a hairline crack in the filter right by...

    downriggers on a 282 Sailfish

Nice setup bc. On my 305 I have two riggers mounted aft of aft rod holder and the other two are forward of the forward rod holders. I troll very deep with my forward one's and shallower with the back one's. Have never had any problems with the cable rubbing my bottom paint even in tight turns...
