    Toe rail removed

In my case striped bass in Montauk, but they have kept me from going over in large swells a couple of times. I never really noticed it getting too dirty behind them.

Chase to Seafarer bow pulpit and railing

I picked up the pulpit yesterday and installed it last night. Every thing is final, only thing left to do is caulk the exterior all around. I'll leave that to a friend who has skills for that sort of finishing work. I do not. It came out well. The color is more the newer Grady White white but it...

Hex screw size on bow rails

I know that this is an old thread, but while doing some recent rail work I ran into the same issue. The 1/8" or 3mm allen key did not fit well, too sloppy. The reason for that is the material. 316 stainless steel is great for corrosion, but it is 'soft' and distorts easily. When they are...

What are your Top 3 favorite boat mods or additions you've made?

Since reading this thread I've been trying to decide on my THREE favorite boat modifications or additions. Choosing is much harder that I thought it would be! So much so I made a list. So far I have eleven fairly significant modifications that I have done to my Seafarer over the past seven...

What are your Top 3 favorite boat mods or additions you've made?

That is awesome! Just when I thought there is not much more that I can add/modify here this is!! Very cool setup, I need to look into this for future reference!!

Chase to Seafarer bow pulpit and railing

I mounted the pulpit and railing last night. Nothing is final, but it is properly fit and snug. It went very smoothly. Cut my rail in two places under the tee and slid the bow rail in. Very minor amount of bending was necessary top keep it from 'springing'. I had to shorten the stanchions on...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

It was actually pretty easy to run the wires. You have to take apart the area underneath the helm then there is easy access to all the wiring. I've had that apart many times! The inspection plate has access to that area and the chase in the compartment the hatch accesses. I cut the PVC chase...

Chase to Seafarer bow pulpit and railing

I think you might be right! Size wise it looks to be a direct fit. I am unsure if my existing railing is one piece on each side or not. Not a big deal if I have to cut it and that seam will be hidden inside the fitting. I'll know once I start taking it apart.

Chase to Seafarer bow pulpit and railing

I found the pulpit on Craig's List. Funny thing is I just drove up to CT purchased the pulpit and railing this past Saturday. The seller initially sold it to an Aussie! Since you are from Down Under I thought that funny. Anyway, the seller shipped it to Australia but it got refused at customs...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

I use shore power and have also run the Rhodan on quite a few trips of up to 8 hours anchor time. Holding in stiff current numerous times. Also used it move around the areas we fished. (Scattered boulder and rock piles) Moved here and there up to 1/4 mile at a clip I'd say. Lowest batteries...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

Thanks. I used #12 Phillips pan head screws with lock washers. I believe they were 1" long. Sealed with 4200.

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

I don't have a winch, but I kept clear and easy access to my anchor. Like Roy, for safety reasons. If I lose all power I'd like to anchor if need be.

    228 Discontinuation and Bow Pulpit

I was wondering if you received the pulpit yet? Are the three items you listed all that you purchased from Grady? Looking to add a pulpit to my Seafarer. For a while I had a hot lead on a used pulpit and railing, but I just found out one of your fellow Aussies beat me to the punch. The seller...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

Thanks Roy! The mounting plate is from Rhodan, 1/2" thick I believe it was. The backing plate is 1/8" stainless steel (316). Given the area that is holding onto I have no worries as to it's strength. If that thing comes off it will take a fairly big chunk of fiberglass with it. With the backing...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

I finished the install this past weekend. Was delayed due to wrong motor being shipped to me, but Rhodan made it right. The install was fairly easy, no major issues. Correction, there is an issue but not with the Rhodan. The issue is my GPS and side scan no longer function. That was self...

Chase to Seafarer bow pulpit and railing

I don't see much of a difference either. The Seafarer is the one in the water. Several people I know that I am thinking of adding a pulpit to my boat. Been thinking about it for a year, action time is approaching. A friend who also has a Seafarer 226 is looking to do the same. We've been...

Chase to Seafarer bow pulpit and railing

The only part of the Chase railing I would use is the part around the pulpit to the first tee on my boat. So I don't think the length is a concern. The width might be, but I don't see an issue with bending the pipe slightly if I need to. My concern / question is the railing outside diameter...
