Rigging new engines on 265 Express

To be brief: I'm repowering my 2005 265 Express with a pair of Yamaha F250XCA engines. The original F225TXRDs are both dead. That's a story for later. With the new engines come new harnesses and removal of the shift/throttle cables. I would really like to run the new control lines through...

2003 26 ft express, needs a diesel heater, need recommendations around Vancouver bc

I’d be very interested in following the progress of this. I’d love to have a little heat at the helm of my 265. I haven‘t sorted out the location as the helm sits above a gas tank, and I won’t sacrifice the insulated box under the starboard bench. Thought about a Little Buddy propane heater...

Upgrading Yammies - can I keep my steering?

I'm T-minus on purchasing a pair of slightly used F250XCAs to replace my 2005 F225TXRDs on my 265 Express. Out of curiosity, has anyone done this, and aside from the new binnacle and shift/throttle harness, do I face a challenge with needing to replace the steering cylinder, or other bits and...

Looking for 265 Grady White Expeess

Funny thing - I bought a 2005 265 Express out of Boston and had a trailer made by Continental in Miami - got too busy so my wife flew out, bought a truck in Ft Lauderdale and hauled it back to Seattle on her own. We've run nearly 100 miles out for albacore with this boat and have loved every...

Found this in my bilge...anyone know what it is?

You nailed it - broken flange from battery selector switch. Can't imagine how it got there - those switches are separated from the bilge by a bulkhead. Gotta be from the PO.

Found this in my bilge...anyone know what it is?

It would be a 5 1/2" OD were it not broken.

Found this in my bilge...anyone know what it is?

I discovered that my bait tank is leaking into the bilge. Not sure why the float switch wasn't working, but when I opened the access port at the aft bilge, this is what I saw laying on the bottom. I've worked in that bilge before and installed a new transducer, not having seen this previously...

Removing lower bearing carrier on 2004 F225 TXRD

I pulled the zerks and pumped grease through both of them before considering pulling the bearing carriers. Believe me, I would rather not pull them, but I'd rather do it now than wait a few more years and wish I'd done it now.

Removing lower bearing carrier on 2004 F225 TXRD

I've been meaning to pull the bearing carriers on my Yammies for a while, as the grease fittings on the rear of the carriers will not take grease, and I thought I'd try to remedy that while I'm doing my winter maintenance. My Yamaha Service manual shows using a slide hammer with adapter on the...

New outriggers - is reinforcing a must?

    That woulda helped - 2005 265 Express.

New outriggers - is reinforcing a must?

I have received my new Taco 2801 mounts and 16' carbon fiber poles. I intend to mount them to the top just outboard of the frame - I know many have mounted theirs in this way, but how many have welded reinforcement plates to the tower frame, and how many have been successful with just mounting...

My First Grady 2005 265 Express

Congrats on your purchase. Hopefully you got a screaming deal on it, considering the amount of work you have ahead of you. I have loved (almost) every minute with mine. Learn to trim the engines, and you'll be very comfortable in most any conditions. Please post some pics and keep us posted as...

    265 Express Electronics Access?

The windshield frame is not difficult to remove - pull the foam out of the channel to reveal the screws, carefully remove all the screws, remove the braces at the tower frame, and gently work the frame loose from the deck. The foam tape may be stuck to the deck from time, but the adhesive bonds...

    265 Express Electronics Access?

I don't really know which way I'm heading. I thought I was gonna leave it all alone until the kids were out of college, but the temp function is failing, and Garmin Tech told me it was almost certainly my transducer. If I'm going to replace my B60 ducer, I'll probably want to upgrade my sounder...

    265 Express Electronics Access?

Skunk, it was built this way by Grady. Unfortunately, there isn't enough height behind the panel to install a plotter larger than the 5212 I have now - as I need to replace/ upgrade my transducer, I thought I'd go all out and replace my 5212 with the 7616, but there's little chance of that, as...

    265 Express Electronics Access?

I've used butyl tape in the past, but as this is such an awkward drag, slide, shove, and twist, I was more comfortable with old fashioned caulk and a finger. I ended up popping out the front section of window which allowed me to remove the stripped screws without damaging the enclosure, and now...

    265 Express Electronics Access?

GW Factory Support said it had been too long since they'd seen one to have any idea. They suggested I contact the dealer that sold the boat 13 ears ago and pick their brains. My local dealer had no idea and suggested I bring the boat in. I'm as clever as the next guy, but I can't imagine how I'm...

    265 Express Electronics Access?

Thanks. unfortunately, the PO or other kind soul stripped the heads on two of the front screws, making it that much more fun. I'll wrestle with it a bit and see what comes of it.

    265 Express Electronics Access?

So I'm at my wit's end trying to gain access to the space behind my panel on my 2005 265 . I've discussed this at length with factory support, my local GW dealer, and the dealer that originally sold the boat. The Garmin 5212 plotter is mounted with studs and nuts from behind the panel. The Icom...
