    Camper Cover for a 208?

Thank you everyone for all the replies. I understand the value in getting a custom top made, but was going to give it a shot that GW OE was common enough that I could pick one up. We've got a few canvas shops in town that likely would make a custom top. Thanks again. Mike

Thank you for the pics. Kinda what I was wondering if these snaps on mine are for a mooring cover.

    Camper Cover for a 208?

I appreciate your insight and advice. I'm just wondering if this was a Grady White option when this boats were made. I would likely start with OEM, because that is what i want. Thanks,

    Camper Cover for a 208?

Hi all- I bought a 2001 208 Adventure last year and noticed curtain snaps just outside the gunwale above the rub rail. These start just aft of the hard top and go aft to the stern. I'm wondering if this is for a camper top option and if anyone who knows the answer also has a photo what it...

    EMI Shielding for RADAR cable

Update: I installed without any additional shielding other than what was inside the cables. Also, decided to cut the power and network cables shorter and use the terminations that garmin supplies with the radar. Cables come 45 ft long and it's only 3 ft to the radio box and 10 ft to the GPS...

    204c hard top radar installation

Update: Took mine out this weekend and played with it. This was the Garmin 18xHD mounted on a 208 Adventure hard top. No wedge, but the front of the hard top curls down forward a little bit. It was noticeable once the radar was bolted down. I cut the power cord AND the network cable to an...

    204c hard top radar installation

I would recommend cutting the power to length plus a some extra for potential later mods. You can coil the foot or so excess in the box. Coiling and stowing an extra 40' to me seems excessive and cluttery. Mike

    EMI Shielding for RADAR cable

Doing just that. Also saw a second pair of 10ga wire stubbed out in the radio box. Has power. But, I decided to just get a longer fuse box and put everything on the first circuit. If there are issues with radar performance, I may hard wire with in-line fuse to the second power source...

    EMI Shielding for RADAR cable

Hi All- I just wanted to note that when I started cutting cable for the installation, I noticed both the network and the power cable are shielded internally. Seems like Garmin has a "catch all" phrase for every situation in their instructions. covering their bases, so to speak. Thanks, Mike

    204c hard top radar installation

EJ- I am doing the same thing right now on my 208. Garmin 18xHD. There are two parts to this question: Is it safe? Will my Radar function properly? Safety: Garmin supplies a 15m (45 foot) power cord with a 7.5a fuse. I don't recall the wire size, but it's around 14ga. On my 208, the...

    EMI Shielding for RADAR cable

OH! I assumed by the age of the boat and the jumble of wires in the hard top radio box that it was an after-market thing, so I did not trust it. (Have had too many surprises on other boats...so...) Already checked the fuses there. They are 10a and the radar is 7.5 fused. Think there's...

    EMI Shielding for RADAR cable

Thanks everyone for the responses. Garmin says it's okay to cut the network cable. They provide a replacement terminal and instructions. Should be okay. Besides being 45 feet long and only 9 ft from the radome to the display, the terminal is too big to pass through the raceways. I need...

    EMI Shielding for RADAR cable

Hi all- Garmin recommends EMI shielding if I run my RADAR cable near GPS, FF, etc cables. This will be the case, as I'll be running the RADAR network and power cables down the hardtop tube to the electronics box on the dashboard. My guess is several people have done exactly the same thing...

Radar Questions from a Radar Newb

Most definitely. The reason I'm getting radar is from being surprised by a fog bank 20 miles from home in the San Juan Islands a few times too many. GPS is good enough to crawl home, but the last couple times, I had to cross shipping lanes and just missed a 400 foot ferry by less than a...

Radar Questions from a Radar Newb

Hi All- Going to mount a Garmin 18XHD to the hardtop on my 208 Adventure. Some of the Garmin Install specs have me asking questions, so I am looking for other people's input, in case your experience can help address my concerns. Since I see most radomes mounted directly to the hardtop, I'm...

    Replace Wiper on Adventure 208

Hi- For a 2001 Adventurer 208, it's NAPA Part Number 6-1465. Came here earlier looking for a solution for my 2001 Adventurer 208 and got the idea for NAPA. Went there and they fixed me right up with part number 6-1465, HD Wiper. Was $7 (On sale for some reason, normally $14). It's the...

Advice needed with f250 on a adventure 208

A bit off-topic, so I apologize, but wanted to inquire while we're talking speed, rpm and such on a 208 model. I've got a 2001 208 Hardtop with a 2004 F225. Thought I read somewhere that red line on this engine is between 5,000 and 6000 RPM. So, I keep it around 4300 maximum and cruise at 31...

Scotty Downrigger Mounting Plate on 208 Adventure

Hi all- I recently bought a 2001 208 Adventure that came with gimbal-mounted Scotty Downriggers. My preference is to have a mounting plate directly on the gunwhale. Only problem, is that the mounting plate hole pattern is a bit wider than the gunwale. The dark holes in the picture are the...

    250 Yamaha on a 208. Too much?

Hi all- While in the search for a 208, I found one with a 2007 Yamaha 250. Owner says yes, it seems large, but the 208 handles it just fine. Also gets good fuel economy. Any concerns to look for? Just checking for "Ya, me too" stories before I take her for a test drive. Thanks,
