Finally got to properly test the seafarer

I was going to film it a bit, but my wife was already cursing me out as her first rough water experience was a bit more than she expected, and I was a bit preoccupied.

    What weight anchor 28' - 30' boat?

Different boat, but I had a 30 foot sailboat I used to anchor out all year. I had a bruce, danforth...couldn't get great holding out of them in all conditions. I bought a 35 lb mantus, and the thing was like the hand of god. Set in its own length, every time unless super thick weed. I am pretty...

Finally got to properly test the seafarer

Superior is pretty rough and open! We have a lot of islands here on Georgian Bay, which means that the rough spots are not huge wide expanses, but my run was about 15 miles on the weekend. Really had no choice, had to work in the morning! I have not boated on superior but the Fitzgerald sank...

Finally got to properly test the seafarer

I called prop gods and asked about going to a four when I got my f250. He said my numbers in terms of slip and performance were fine and not to worry about it. Good to hear you liked your prop. I had a four blade on a 21 century I had and liked it. Still may get one. Eric's view on the...

Finally got to properly test the seafarer

nice. yes, I wasn't pushing it, but there was little pounding with the tabs.. The key I think obviously is getting the front down to really part those short waves and bringing the wave contact point further forward where the hull is sharper. I want to slide my fuel tank further forward, and am...

In the market for a new 208 Adventure

best thing to do is move the porta potty outside the cabin before turning in for the night. We have a cockpit enclosure, so that way you have privacy from both the inside of the cabin and the dock if you are tied to one. Best spot I found is directly in front of the passenger seat. I liken the...

In the market for a new 208 Adventure

From what I have seen, the 208 we have here has a cabin about the same size as my 226. My wife and I stay on ours for several days in a row frequently, and we have a 40lb dog as well. I am 6' 2", and I fit. The dog recently has taken to sleeping on the side shelf for some reason, but she is a...

Finally got to properly test the seafarer

There is indeed a sweet spot. Heading directly into the biggest and steepest of the waves on Sunday was not it. Pretty slow going at that point. Once turned and not directly against them was much better. I was down in the Keys last winter, but did not have the Grady down there. Brought a much...

Finally got to properly test the seafarer

Ya, my limit is being able to see the horizon in the troughs. Was a strong wind warning issued for the north channel, forty miles North of where I was. The biggest and steepest was coming out of an inlet, but after that got turned and ran parallel to them making it not so bad. I found it got a...

Finally got to properly test the seafarer

Went 20 miles north here on Georgian bay for the weekend. Came home yesterday, it was blowing 21 kts and gusting to 29. Honest steep 5s and the odd six footer tapering to 4s on the way home. Wife wasnt thrilled and dog even less so, but boat handled admirably. 3400 rpm and full tab and it was...

Sea dek, or infinity luxury woven vinyl?

Being as my 226 is a family boat more than a fishing boat, was thinking of doing either one to the entire floor. The non skid is getting pretty worn, and instead of redoing it, was thinking of the infinity vinyl done as a snap in system as opposed to glue down. but then saw the sea dek thread...

    Those kill switch thingies?

While it is a good idea to use them, its crazy that these rules are mandatory in places in the states. I know of no such rules here in Canada. My personal opinion is that these things should be left to personal choice, but again, that's only my opinion.

    228 Anchoring question

My setup is the same, but with a 226. Swings around a lot at anchor also. My sailboat used to also. Interested to hear what others do to mitigate this.

    226 owners help

Wet, as in...gets you wet while running in waves? weird. mine seems to be great. Matter of fact the first day I owned mine I took it out in a 40 knot blow and played in some really steep six footers here on Georgian Bay. Got back to the marina and someone was watching me apparently. The guy...

    Grady 226 tow vehicle

So w The Colorado has a 2.8 liter, and is rated for over 7000. That's why I considered it. I am well within the limits at 5500. I know a 1500 with the bigger Duramax would be better, but like I said before, the other 11 months of the year I would never need a big truck. I am not looking to...

Why are Grady's so popular in eastern Long Island and what is it like in your area?

Real popular here since we are a Grady dealer.

    Grady 226 tow vehicle

the 3 liter is a Duramax anyway. I was half expecting to hear that if I didn't have a 3500 or Super Duty dually I would be broke down and in the ditch before I got out of Ontario. So far the replies have been good though, and a full size really does make more sense.

    Grady 226 tow vehicle

Haha, I dont need the biggest and best. Like I said, only towing the boat once a year. 9000 lb capacity is perfect. The rest of the year I could probably do with the four cylinder turbo. I wouldn't though, because even I know a four cylinder doesn't belong in a real truck!
