    Sleeping on the boat

Agree with the inflatable REI, I might try that. And moving the rods is good advice. Elbows snagged on husky jerks at 2 am isn't cool or conducive to increased sleep.

    Best boat you never owned?

Having 1 foot in the 12' Montgomery Wards flat bottom my grandpa had and 1 foot in a Viking sportfisher looks odd, but feels right.

    Sleeping on the boat

The past couple of boat overnights I've found the cushions for the forward berth on my Marlin to be stiff. Added a 2" memory foam layer, but it squeezes down early and still turns into "too firm". I'm open to thoughts from others on what you do or add to improve your sleeping quarters...

    Best boat you never owned?

Ready, set, GO! Now that I've slept on my own Marlin, it's a 456 Canyon for doing the Great loop. Never going to happen, barring a Powerball win

    Carrying a dinghy on a marlin ?

Working on machining a bracket for two rod holder bases on one side that will carry two kayaks or two mountain bikes. Dinghy likely too wide for that sort of bracket. Hate asking this, but here goes, what is the size of your dinghy? :/ Is it possible to secure upfront on the bow?

    Coffee Maker for a boat

Been debating the Makita option for awhile. A 5 amp/hr battery brews 4-5 small (5 oz) cups before needing recharge. So, to fill my 20 oz Yeti cup twice requires two $100 batteries and recharge both when back to shore power. Can't justify the investment yet. I'll still take one from shore, or...

    Marlin aux fuel fill

2018 Marlin: Finding it difficult to fill the aux (rear) fuel tank. Rate that it accepts fuel is much less than the first auto-notch on the handle. If more than that, it bubbles up / shuts off. Initial guess is vent is restricted, or fill neck was kinked during install. Didn't have time to...

    Marlin On Trailer:

Dennis, Bill, I agree, moving often isn't the issue, it's stopping that becomes a problem and isn't seen or considered until it happens. And the permit debate continues in this neck of the woods. Some believe it's frivolous and not needed, some report that it's a must. My current take is...

    Marlin Therapy

Thanks, that's a used Cisco I bought after I got the boat. Makes installing and adjusting a breeze. I have a 3 rod holder unit for the back but haven't got the right gimbal mount for it yet.

    Marlin On Trailer:

I plan to pull my Marlin to the lake, and back home, once per year, Approx. 159 miles from barn to ramp, predominately 4 lane road. Currently having the 3500 SRW isn't optimal and it'd reduce sway significantly with duals, but can't justify the additional cost. Was difficult to justify...

    Marlin On Trailer:

Curious to see what your fuel economy with the dual 350's is. Same boat, 2018 with 300's and I'm some place between 1.1 - 1.4 mpg. Spending more time at 1.2 in most moderate speeds. (18-25 mph). Speeds above 30 mph and 4800 rpm tend to fall in the 1 mpg area. Some fishing equipment, two...

    Marlin On Trailer:

Sorry Magical Bill, spell check helped me again. Meant helm not help. So you're from under cover (helm). Thanks, I'll start trying that more often. I like storing with outboards tilted w/ wedges. Leaves me room to drain / work on lower unit if need be. Spent some time on the front topside...

    Marlin On Trailer:

Really nice set up. I like both the continental trailer and the wedges! Same set up but pulling with a single rear wheel 1 ton Chevrolet. Question: When you roll up your curtains do you roll them from outside the help or inside? Getting different info from different sources. Rolling from...

    Tackle Storage

Thanks FT. Sounds like a reconnaissance trip to Bass Pro / Cabelas on the way to the lake.

    Tackle Storage

What are the best options for tackle storage that folks are using, given the drawer and door sizes? I have a 300 Marlin located on Lake Erie and have switched from typical Plano Stowaway 3700 (in my old boat) to the boxes with individual tubes for each hard body lure (way too large or current...

    NEW MEMBER 33 EXPRESS

Very nice looking boat! I really like the clean (no stripe) sides high with dark bottom paint and a small stripe just above that.

    naming a boat

The bearded ladies at the license branch dig me. Depending on the day that's a blessing & a curse.

    The weekend finally came!!!

Magical bill - Yes, Erie east of islands, Russ - No, newer Marlin's have a taller windshield standard, provides better visibility in my opinion. Fishtales - 2018 Mr Crab - 300's. The bottom paint applied 1.5" below the bottom stripe provide a line and dress the lower portion up a bit. I do...

    The weekend finally came!!!

No trailer yet, it'll remain in the water. Pending financial fair weather I'll find a trailer this summer.
