    It's Been Great

More or less a "plankowner" here, from almost 15 years ago. But we sold our Grady-White in early January, and don't expect to be purchasing another GW. So I am saying goodbye and wishing you all the best. Enjoy the water and your boats, stay safe, and be kind to others. Brian

Preparing to go offshore - Atlantic Ocean

This is from a post I made on THT, on a similar topic. It was a list of what we had on our offshore boats. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Real, Type 1 life jackets, replacing all those cheap Type 3 jackets. Yes, the Type 3...

Wet weight of a Grady White 275 with twin F200 and tandem trailer?

The engines are NOT 950 each. They are 489 each w/o oil, so call it 500. The F300 weighs about 585 with oil, so the net weight savings is about 415#. Not enough weight savings to make it work with his truck, and that boat is much nicer with twins.

Wet weight of a Grady White 275 with twin F200 and tandem trailer?

You can work it down to a fine answer, but I calculated our 270 Islander with twin F150s, with gear, accessories, fuel, water, batteries, ground tackle, etc as about 8000 lbs on the boat lift. I don’t see any way for you to be under 8100 with a trailer. The Grady White web site gives the...

2000 Express 265 Water pressure pump

This should allow you to download and read the Owner's Manual for your boat. https://gradywhite.blob.core.windows.net/media/5445/2000-265.pdf Page 6-28 is a schematic, but should give you a good hint as to the physical location. Likely aft of the athwartships bulkhead. The fresh water pump...

Losing some RPM and top end

^^^^ THIS ^^^^ Our boat was slipped for years in Norfolk, VA, and I could see decreases in speed and RPM, and increased fuel use, when it was no more than a couple of dozen small barnacles on the trip tabs. If you have any real growth - barnacles or grass - on your hull bottom, you will see...

    Freedom 275/85/307

Well, that fills in the blanks a bit on your options. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have more questions or concerns during the review and evaluation process, for electronics decisions during purchase, delivery, or afterwards. So much to be learned about a boat.... :-)

    Freedom 275/85/307

We owned a 2002 Islander 270 until this past January, and put tens of thousands of miles under her keel. I have also been on many other GW models, mostly for coastal and offshore fishing. As you look at those three models, they really do get incrementally larger and you don't indicate where...

    Autopilot for 272 Sailfish

The parts of an autopilot (A/P) system, include: - the computing unit, or brain - a control head, but some MFDs can be used without a dedicated control unit. Experienced A/P users will usually recommend a dedicated control head, in addition to the MFD interface. - the hydraulic pump - hydraulic...

    Length of anchor rope

You should be able to get 600-ft of good quality, 1/2" 8-plait line in there, with sufficient "fall" from the windlass to the top of the stacked rode. And 8-plait doesn't hockle like 3-strand, so much easier to deal with, and almost never tangles. There aren't any ropes on a boat. You may buy...

    '95 268 Islander

I could never find one and we had the same ladder on our 2002 Islander 270 as you do.

    1995 268 Islander

Always used engine trim primarily. Only used tabs when I needed to push the bow down to cut into a head sea. Too much hull in the water on an Islander = bow steer and chine walk.
