2022 Fisherman 257 - pretty good so far. One sticker peeling off, otherwise, the boat is solid.

Has anyone run a wire up to the winch from the helm on a fisherman? I am considering fitting a remote spotlight on a stanchion on the nose so it doesn't illuminate the deck, or get in the way of the radar. If you've done it - any advice appreciated.

Run marine network and NMEA2000 between your CL7 and chartplotter - you won't regret it. They will work as one combined unit, you can change views on both from one button on either, and you'll get engine readout on both devices. Totally worth a network card and a NMEA2000 drop cable.

You don't need the fairing unless you are going to cut it to match the hull angle - if you're on the centerline, you can mount without.

Marine shrink butt connectors have hot-melt sealant in them. They will last forever. Just clean everything really well with acetone as you go, stagger the connections, and it will outlast you.

Just spent $800 of the triple points vouchers I got last time they had the deal (when I bought a screen and radar) on a transducer - it was a pain, the poor guy at checkout ha to press the button 80 times....

I worried about the same, but west marine customer service confirmed I would still get the triple points for ordering on the right day, and I did. Now I need to print a telephone book of vouchers. ;-)

There should be no weight on the bow roller - it's for pulling the boat onto the trailer, not for carrying the weight of the boat. All the load should be on the bunks or rollers.

I think a 282 Sailfish is about 10,000lb on the trailer - no way that tongue is designed for 1000lb, plus there looks like some load on the bow stand as well - seems to be too delicate a trailer by far? Any chance this is the 9625lb version (the lightest of the triple axel Vantage models) - if...
