    Vista covers

As some of you know I am purchasing my first boat. In looking at used 225s I noticed that the Vista enclosure with aft and side curtains had been used infrequently or not at all by the prior owners. It seems that a simple Bimini top would be all one needs except for serious weather outings...

thanks slingshot. I have looked at those and are also pursuing a few that are closer to my home.

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Hinmo Just came back from comparing the Robalo 227 vs. the Grady 225 Tournament. I understand Robalo has a new owner and has improved its quality but the Grady did seem more solid to my novice eye. As some on this site know, I have been having a challenge finding a used boat that stays on...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Gradyfish Thanks for input. Interestingly the BUC values that Charles provided also agree with the USBoat value service. A learning experience for me, but I found the USBoat folks to be very helpful in that they gave me a list of the actual purchase prices that customers provided when insuring...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Thanks. NADA does not provide price with engine so one has to put the two pieces together, but the combined number looks a little higher than the BUC price on your chart. Your earlier suggestion of 10-20% below asking price would bring it in line. I will try to take a look at the boat this weekend.

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Charles Thanks for input. I will follow up. Talked to a dealer about a 2005 with just over 100 hours on the F250. Will try to see it this weekend. US Boats says the asking price is a little high but still worth a look. I have used USBoats for guidance on selling prices since they see the...

engineers Thanks for your input. I note you are from Virginia. I have called or emailed the other Grady dealers in Virginia and northern Md. So far have not have any responses. Busy must be good. Doug

    Robalo vs. Grady White

The 225s I looked at locally were only 9 months old and had 23 and 54 hours on their respective engines. They looked brand new so I felt comfortable in pursuing. They sold so quickly it appears others also felt comfortable. Being new to boating I have been reluctant to take on the...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Thanks. I will keep looking locally. You know the Chesapeake market is overflowing with boats so maybe something will appear as quickly as they seem to sell.

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Thanks for all the advice. This is certainly an interesting market. The dealer just emailed me to say the second 2007 225, which I mentioned above was not even listed, has been sold. This one week after it was traded in. I never even got a chance to ask for a sea trial! Fishermanbb, the...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Thanks all. Actually I was looking as some of the used 225s on Charles' list. The 2007 was sold out from under me last week while the salesman was showing me the boat. There is another 2007 for sale(not listed yet) with the dual seats Charles suggested with 54 hrs on the F250. Interestingly...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

I was focusing on the Grady when I noticed the Robalo on the dealer's lot. I am still leaning toward the Grady but I just want to make sure that Grady's reputation is worth the difference. Having looked at Pursuits, Regulators, Cobalts and even a Hinkley(my first sea trial before they told me...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

I am looking to acquire my first boat for use on the Eastern Shore of Md. I know this is a Grady site but I have narrowed the choices down to the Grady 225 Tournament or the R227 Robalo. The local dealer, Tri State Marine, sells both boats similarly equipped--F250 engine, Raymarine...
