    282 Sailfish

I have a 2001 282 Sailfish powered with twin 200 HPDI's. Great boat with solid engines. I bought it from a dealer in Maine 3 years ago. I run the boat at cruise around 3800rpm and I get around 1.5mpg. We do all our boating in Nantucket Sound on Cape Cod and it handles the "chop" very well out...

    Rub Rail

I needed to replace the same part on the rub rail of my 282. I contacted a Grady dealer and they were able to get the part from Grady White. It cost me $30 with shipping.

    Remote Oil Tank

Remote tank Thanks I will give that a try. I agree the odds are very slim that both senders failed at once. I think I am going to have to track down a loose connection.

    Remote Oil Tank

The closest thing I can find to a common harness is at the helm gauges where some of the connections are shared, i.e. power to gauges. There are a few other "shared" connections but I cannot identify their functions. I was considering the possibility that if a remote tank sensor failed its...

    Remote Oil Tank

I have twin 2001 Yamaha 200 hpdi's. When I started the engines this past weekend, both Yamaha gauges at the helm indicated both remote oil tanks were low on oil, i.e. solid bar on the left and blinking bar in the middle. Both remote tanks are full and I always keep them that way. The oil tanks...

    Grady Gelcoat Patch Kit

I recently purchased a gelcoat patch kit from our local Grady dealer. I am looking for some tips or a heads-up on how to go about using this product. I am repairing 2 small spots in the gelcoat about the size of a nickel. The gelcoat is missing on one of the locations and the other still has...

I have a Raymarine C80 Chartplotter, Fishfinder, Radar Unit installed in my 282 Sailfish. I am going to purchase the Raymarine DSM300 Fishfinder/Sounder Module that interfaces with the C80. I am having the thru-hull transducer professionally installed but I am going to mount and connect the...

    Window Gaskets

Window Gasket I recently resealed one of the windows on my '01 282 Sailfish. The manufacturer for the window is a company called Water Bonnet- http://www.waterbonnet.com. They had the rubber gasket for my window. Not sure if they are the manufacturer of your windows. Problems I...

    200 HPDI Oil Tank Assembly

The small oil tank under the cowling of my port engine will drip oil from under the small black cap at the top of the tank. This only happens when the engine is tilted all the way up. My starboard engine does not do this at all. It leaks enough to make a sticky mess on the transom. The...

    Ring Free

The directions on the container of Ring Free suggest a "constant" treatment 1oz per 10 gallons of gasoline. Am I to understand I should be adding 2oz per 10 gallons for my twin engines? The directions on the bottle seem ambiguous. Any thoughts?

    Ethanol

I too am concerned about moisture in my fuel tanks. I rather keep my tanks nearly full but I think I will be running my fuel tanks as low as I dare and then filling up with the E10. I will continue to use the Ring Free and I will start using a fuel conditioner as well.

    Ethanol

I recently purchased a 2001 282 from a broker located in Maine. The boat was delivered with a full tank of regular gas - no ethanol or MTBE additives. The boats new home is Cape Cod, Massachusetts where the only fuel available is E10. I spoke with the broker about this and I was told when...

    Groco Macerator

Over the weekend I placed the macerator in a bucket of water and connected a battery to it. The pump began to work and then abruptly stopped after about 30 seconds. I disconnected the battery and waited a few minutes and reapplied power. This time the macerator barely turned and then stopped...

    Groco Macerator

Has anyone attempted to repair or work on their Groco 155 Macerator? I've taken mine apart and cleaned it up - not a pretty job - but the motor doesn't spin up to full speed. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.
