    Macerator Pump

This is an old post on how I did mine last year and it has worked flawlessly since.

    Replaced macerator pump

Drilled a 1 7/8" hole in plate and ran a 1 1/2" pvc male adapter from the top to a female adapter on the bottom of plate, glued in the pick up tube, added some Vulkem along the seam on both sides for good measure and screwed them tight to each other and created a good waterproof connection. Used...

    Replaced macerator pump

Well the time had finally come to repair or replace the infamous macerator pump buried within the holding tank on my 282. Did some research on the forum here and job didn't look to bad once you got into it. Luckily it was nearly empty but once you remove the top be cautious! Removed the Groco...

    Good Windlass

I purchased mine from a local small dealer pre spliced with the correct chain for the Lewmar. I think it was Jordan Marine or something like that, I can't put my hands on the receipt but I will re post later if you need it. I am sure he can ship to where ever. I checked International House of...

    Busted bow pulpit

Thanks for the replies folks, still no reply from GW, I may try to contact them once more but it appears that I may be own my own on the repair anyhow and if so, so be it. I have a friend who is very talented with fiberglass repair and boat customization so I am going to get with him to explore...

    Busted bow pulpit

Anybody have the unfortunate experience of doing this? OUCH!! Happened this past weekend while retrieving my anchor, just a little stuck and without much notice KAPOW. I have had a windlass on boats for some 12 years now but never had this to happen. My plow anchor is rigged with the tie strap...

    Old Gradys

Up here in north FL. Jacksonville, the dolphin run was not it's usual as well. We did have the fish come through as normal starting in late April and peaking in June, but it was not the numbers we usually see, at least not for me and from what I have heard from others anyhow. That being said we...

    Lewmar Windlass

I recently posted my thoughts on the Lewmar ProFish 1000 on another thread and had to recently take mine to a repair facility to get fixed as the clutch had frozen and would not let the unit go into free fall, it would still power down fine. The unit is 2 1/2 years old and still under warranty...

    Best Windlass for a 228?

I have the ProFish 1000 on my Sailfish and I think the 700 would be fine for anything under 25', the 700 also uses a smaller wire size and the factory set up if you have one may be fine. My windlass has worked great until just recently whereas the "freefall" has quit working, you can only power...

    Sailfish Model Windlass Install Photo's?

As ocnsir mentioned in his post, the 8 plait is the way to go for the rode if you really want to cram a lot in there and have it lay flat, but they sure are dang proud of it when you go to buy it!

    Sailfish Model Windlass Install Photo's?

To clear the occasional jamb, my locker has a hatch at the front of the cabin so it's easy to get to. The screws are through bolted where I could, others are just screwed through. I left the hinges on so it is easier to service the unit, remove screws, flip up and grease as needed. Fairly simple...

    Sailfish Model Windlass Install Photo's?

Here's a couple of pics of mine, I removed the factory hatch and replaced it with the starboard material in Seafoam which matches the GW gelcoat pretty well. By doing so I was able to move it further back over the rode locker where it works better and save the original hatch cover if I need to...

Is my on board Guest battery charger shot?

Jeff, the Reverse Polarity light only comes on when the battery charger breaker is flipped to "on", it does not effect the other breakers for water heater, micro, etc. Every thing else is working fine.

Is my on board Guest battery charger shot?

Figure I would try posting here. I know others have had to replace theirs and wanted to confirm symptoms are the same. My 2005 sailfish with the factory installed Guest battery charger just recently stopped working. I typically hook up the shore power the day before I go out and energize the...

    Is my battery charger shot?

My 2005 sailfish with the factory installed Guest battery charger just recently stopped working. I typically hook up the shore power the day before I go out and energize the battery charger to insure a good charge on the batteries. This past week I did the normal routine but no lights on the...

    24 Explorer Windlass Location

I mounted mine the same as the above post, over the deepest part of the locker. I removed the anchor locker access door and replaced it with a piece of 1" starboard in the Seafoam color, sealed it shut and drilled the holes accordingly. Works like a charm and still have the old door if needed.

Garmin AP install on 2007 282 Sailfish

My AP pump was installed behind the starboard access panel at the mid berth, all of the hydraulics are run through there and there is a flat spot that was ideal for mounting the pump. My ECU is behind the other electronics flush mounted at the helm. The fluxgate compass in in the forward bilge...

    Good Windlass

The above offer for the Good Windlass is indeed a great buy. I had a Good freefall on my Shammie with their pivot arm boom and it worked flawless, built bullet proof but not cheap. I would have gone back to the Good on my Sailfish but the footprint was to large to for the rode to fall in the...
