I believe the hull is the same except they now use wood free stringers.

My EPIRB is mounted on the helm bulkhead right next to the cabin door. It is withing reach of the helm.

I ran a 2004 Marlin for years with 225s. In good conditions I could make 27-28 kts at 4700 RPM. Aside from the exhaust issues, they are great motors.

Marlin is an awesome boat. Currently on my second.

Thanks for responding to my posting. 1) how is it for 2 people to overnight? We haven't done that but I know many who have. The genset is helpful. 2) what do you you do for extra seating in the cockpit? two on bench, two on seats over livewell and sink. If I need more I keep some folding...

There were some very nice updates in 2004 to the Marlin

Love my Marlin (our second is a 2017). Visibility is excellent. The windshield is much taller than earlier models. Great boat. Feel free to ask any questions.

As another owner of both a Sailfish and a Marlin, I will strongly concur with what has been said. The 272/282 is a great boat. I caught some serious fish on mine. The helm chair spacing was annoying as Danny has said. The hull requires aggressive use of trim tabs in all but inland waters but...

Too bad GB. I sold my 2004 Marlin last January to by my new 2017. It was in great shape. We did over 10K in repairs to get everything in excellent working order, including a professional cabin headliner repair.

PS: To get 1.3 mpg I can run around 28 kts. IIRC this is around 4-4200 RPM. Consider the GW promos. I ordered mine during the GG days and save $5K beyond the dealer price. It runs until 11/7. We had a spring delivery in April.
