Built In Flush Hose Attached to Power Unit: Question

I think that the water pump impeller will run dry if you do it like that. You will get cooling water to the engine but you may damage the impeller on the water pump. Use the muffs its safer.

    282 Sailfish w/ F225 performance ques?

I run the same setup as you have on same year boat and engine. My WOT are 5600 with motor trimmed up speed is 46mph. I normally cruise at 3600 to 3900 RPM's at between 24 to 30 knots. My normal load is 2 people plus gear with 3/4 fuel load. I generally keep the 150 gal tank topped off and...

    4 blade props ???

Captain Pete if you go to the Yamaha Motors website and look for performance bulletins you can find a 2000 Marlin with the OX66 250's and they recommend the props you now have. If I knew how I'd post the link for you. They are pretty good with the data they provide and you can expect similar...

Here we go again...maybe hi fuel costs

I agree with the thought that there is no better option than boating so I will still use the boat and bite the bullet. My way around this is something that I learned from the Admiral, she will not spend $500 on any one item but has no issue with buying 10 $50 items. I took a page from her...

    Abacos Trip suggestions

Smokey that is a great trip. I think you'll really enjoy it. At Green Turtle you have several choices to stay. In white sound there is the Bluff House and the Green Turtle Club and in black sound the Leeward Club and Marina is very nice and reasonable. I've stayed at all 3 and recommend them...

    282 Sailfish

Bill the 282 Sailfish is a great boat. It might be marginal with the 200's definetly better with 225's or 250's but I don't think it will be a dog either. The only complaint I have with mine is the narrow pass between the helm seats but that is minor. How many hrs on the boats ur looking at...

    '99 272 Saillfish buried prop

Good question, nut sure either 2nd or 3rd ventilation plates are about 1" above hull. I run similar numbers to yours with 19" pitch props. Mine will sometimes ventilate in following seas but not in turns.

    '99 272 Saillfish buried prop

Tucker do some preliminary checks before you start the project. The anti-ventilation plates are normally 1 -2 inches above the bottom of the hull. Check this with a straight edge and see how they are mounted. If the engines are mounted too low you should get an increase on top end and...

    What are this plastic rings.

Those plastic rings are for your downrigger weights. You can put them in there so they don't roll around in the cockpit they can cause a lot of damage if they get loose. My Sailfish has them too. I used to have a Penn downrigger and the 10 lb weight ball fit in there perfectly.

Helm chairs on the 282 Sailfish

Good choice Ahill Sailfish is a great place nice and close to the inlet. I used to be at Riverwatch but when I got the Grady Sailfish Marina was about half empty and I was able to get a spot. They are in the high 400's for boats like ours. If i did get a Marlin it would have to be outside...

Helm chairs on the 282 Sailfish

Helm chairs on the 282 Sailfish

Thanks for the replies. I really like the idea of a 30 Marlin but my marina will not accomodate the wider beam inside the barn and it would have to be stored outside and that leads to an insurance issue. I agree that the best option is to remove the arm rests but the wife has not approved that...

Helm chairs on the 282 Sailfish

Has anyone found a good solution to the tight squeeze problem with these chairs. I like the boat a lot, but what the hell was Grady thinking when they designed the space between chairs. They must have used 90lb models to walk between them. The guy at the dealership told me some folks have...

330 express with twin 225hp mpg

If you go to the Yamaha website and look under performance reports you might find this same boat/motor combo. It will tell you what speeds to expect, what prop to use to duplicate their results and fuel consumption numbers for various RPM's. They also give you the weight it was tested at which...

Help settle a Ring Free debate.

The debate over fuel additives has been around for a while now. Engine manufacturers are well aware of varying degrees of fuel qualities available to boaters. Back in the 80's de-carbing an engine was a simple process done once in a while and the only additive I used was Marvel Mystery oil in...

    Prop Question for 20' Overnighter-15.5x17p

There are several variables to consider when changing props. You need to know the WOT recommended range of the motor. Whatever prop you choose must allow the motor to achieve this WOT rpm without overreving. The higher the pitch of the prop the faster the boat will run as long as the engine...
