They sit below the waterline on my Gulfstream 232G. The deck is above waterline and the scuppers have rubbers flappers on them that keeps the water out when not moving.

I have 20' wishbones on my Gulfstream. 15' would make a good center rigger, pull 2 lines off of it, one for a way way back, one mid. I would go for 20'.
