    Hull Thickness?

I have an 89 Gulfstream 230. I nailed a large log going about 20mph today squarely on the bow, the log passed under the boat, and then hit the leg of my motor. There seems to be zero damage to the bow or the leg, although it was a massive thud when it hit both. Just how thick is my boat...

    Transom Repair - South Jersey

Chris, You're truly an inspiration! I have the exact boat, except an 89 230. I'm in love with mine, but I treat it much more like a tank, than you obviously do. For the last year I've been thinking of buying a different "newer" Grady as a lot of little things are pissing me off about my...

Modded Offshore (for northern west coast fishing)

Yup, sure is... very common out here in the Vancouver area. Gotta work the riggers all the time.

Modded Offshore (for northern west coast fishing)

Thought I'd share these photos of a modded out Grady Offshore designed to handle the west coast of Vancouver Island Canada. This boat was crazy... the owner called it bulletproofing... He has 4 of these boats, 2 offshores, and 2 gulfstreams...

    Second steering station

I have an 89 gulfstream, I do a lot of solo downrigger fishing (that's west coast salmon fishing). I spend the majority of my time working the riggers and rods at the rear of the boat. I've seen lots of guides up here with a steering station on their transom.... I have a SeaStar system and would...

    Podding a Gulfstream 230

I have an 89 Gulfstream 230. After this fishing season I want to do some things, the first will be a rebuilt transom. What I think I'd like to do is pod out a swim-grid to mount my motor and kicker. I'd then close up the transom. Has anyone out here done this? seen this? any comments or...

    Floor Panel Sealant

Would you recommend the same product to seal up the outside of my rub rail? I noticed the previous owner has several layers of a clear sealant on the the top, bottom and the middle of the rub rail...

    Floor Panel Sealant

Sounds better than a utility knife...

    Floor Panel Sealant

Really? this will keep the water out? I think the previous owner must have used some kind of marine glue, or that marine-goo... the panel was near impossible to get off, and it's pretty damned hard to clean off the edges for the new sealant.

    Floor Panel Sealant

I'm wondering what one would use to seal back up the cracks (the word 'crack' is really a poor word for the space between the panel and the space it fits in) in the floor panels after you remove them, and place them back. Obviously I'm not talking about the round access hatches, rather the...

    Coffee maker on my 360

I'm not 100% sure why it needs to be stored at room temp... I think it has something to do with the heating mechanism of the water, and protecting it against frozen water that may be in the line. All I really know, is that I can't have coffee on my boat from a Keurig until it's after 1pm in the...

    1989 Gulfstream 230 Forward Bilge

Agreed, it concerned me too! Seems like both the bilge's work, but only manually. I have to flip the switch at the helm for them to work. I'll look the float switches over! Thanks

    1989 Gulfstream 230 Forward Bilge

I was offshore a bit today, it was a little rougher than usual....After running about 6 miles, I dropped my prawn traps, and the another 6 mile pound to the fishing grounds...I set up my lines, and when I went into the cuddy to grab a beer, I noticed there was about an inch of water on the...

    Coffee maker on my 360

I'm not sure where you live, but the Keurig system requires it to be at room temp all the time, up here in Canada, over nights generally get too cold, and the coffee maker wouldn't work until it sits at room temp for about 2 hours.

(new to me) 1989 232... great boat, a couple questions...

Re: (new to me) 1989 232... great boat, a couple questions.. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I just pulled the teak box/frame out, and I must admit I got a bit of a chubby seeing that compartment down there, with the washdown pump and the fresh water tank!!! I'm pretty sure the washdown pump...

(new to me) 1989 232... great boat, a couple questions...

Re: (new to me) 1989 232... great boat, a couple questions.. You're correct, it is a 230. I always thought it was a 232 as that's what the manual cover says. I've tried to get under the port-side seat, but am really having problems there. I remove the drawers and underneath is a solid piece...

Re: (new to me) 1989 232... great boat, a couple questions.. Hey CGMILLER, thanks for the tip! I am assuming you're talking about the engine well in the rear of our boats. (you have to fold down a gate to access the engine well). As well as folding down this gate to lift the outboards? I...

(new to me) 1989 232... great boat, a couple questions...

I picked up a 1989 Grady 232 about a 6 months ago, and am happy... so very happy with it... what an amazing boat for the west coast of Canada. I've been very busy getting the deck very bloody over the last 6 months (hundreds of sockeye!), and finally have found some time to do some...

Help me decide if I should buy this GW Gulfstream

Hi... I have a chance to buy a 1989 GW Gulfstream. It's got new power, but has been used as a charter boat for the last 6 years. While it's got a lot of mileage, it's obviously been well cared for as a charter, and has had to pass regular government inspections. Is there anything I should be...
