Hello,

I am going to look at a 1980 240 offshore on 1/20 and wondering if it is worth my time. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1980-Grady-White-Offshore-97160650 I talked to a sales rep and he says that the owner is loaded and would probally sell it for $2000-$2500. The trailer seems to be worth that alone but I dont have the money for a newer motor. Is there anything major that I should look for? Have you ever experianced the ride? What are your likes/dislikes?
Thanks

The aluminum reinforcement on the transom might indicate that there was a problem with the transom getting wet/soft in the past. That would be something to look out for. You will have the usual issues, dry/cracked/fragile through hulls and hoses. It sounds like the tanks were taken care of. Bulkhead/cabin wall might have rot. The transom would be what worries me most, especially since it has been reinforced...
