I recently acquired a 1984 sailfish project boat. Transom is cracked, rotted and needs replaced. This is where I had planned to cut but I can't figure out how to remove the livewells in the corners.20230730_063509 1.jpg

I guess I could cut here. What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated.20230730_063509 2.jpg

If it's just the transom core (are you sure about that?), then you might consider just cutting the outer skin of the transom off. Don't cut right to edges/corners - leave about an inch - just dig out the rotten stuff. It's a whole lot easier to do it this way.

I have stringer work to do too.

Why not cut across the gunnels just forward of the livewell boxes. Much less re-glass work.

Well that makes much more sense. Not sure why I didn't realize that. This is my first transom job but I have done a fair amount of glass work. Thank you.
