Hi guys,

New to the site... I am looking into the possiblity of purchasing a 1986 25' tropy pro with 1991 twin 200hp yamahas. The boat is in very good condition with many extras including a trailer. I guess my question is.... How much is this boat worth? Is it worth 25,000? 20K or less? Any experience with these boats and information with things to look for on this boat would be greatly appreciated

Less, If those engines need shift rod service because of corrosion they're totaled. That's a pre seav2 hull. Unless it's a bargain I would look for a 92 or newer hull with 93 or newer Yamaha's. Just my $.02. good luck!
 
Less, I'd say. I own a Sailfish of that vintage, and I'd be looking for a boat that has been re-powered with 4 strokes and has had its fuel tanks replaced (if not, be prepared to do both, sooner rather than later). I have no complaints with my hull design.
 
Well this one has both stainless new tanks.... It I dont believe is a salt water boat.... Do you know how I would tell anything about the shifting rods (if they are in good shape or not?) .... Any additional experiences with these boats is appreciated or engines

When mine went, the portion that had deteriorated was clearly visible where it emerged beneath the powerhead. It was rusty and SIGNIFICANTLY worn away over a rather small 1" to 2" length of the rod. I'm sure you can search up some pictures of one.
 
If my memory serves me correctly, it was considerably northward of a grand, much of which was attributable to the labor costs of removing frozen powerhead bolts. This is a well known "please don't let it be that" problem, evidenced by shifting problems.

I own a 1983 Trophy Pro I/O. I would look for Grady rot on the transom and stringers. I got burned when the survey missed it on inspection. Took him to court and won. Grady gave me $550.00 to offset the repair as a good will. Great Company stands behind there work.
Love the boat. :D
 
10-15k tops for that age....and check for transom and stringer rot......you'll need the extra cash for their replacement
