That'll be fine. It really doesn't matter too much. As long as it's dry.Cause I was going to use Douglas fir unless I get any other recommendations, so far I’m leaning with 1” Douglas fir.
I have the more than enough access inside and either way I’m replacing the stringers and etc after, guess I’m cutting out the gunwales in the rear a bit then. I’m going to start the transom this weekend. I’ll post pics of the progress.If you're current access is really good to the inside (probably is) then that's an easier replacement/repair because it doesn't have to as aesthetically pleasing. But then you're cutting around the stringers and up under the gunwales a bit? The outside, of course, is "easier" to do the actual work.
