1987 19 Tournament front compartment

I see that the starboard side front compartment has a liner and a drain in it. Can this be used as a fish box? or is it just for ice and beverages.

Can you see the underside, from under the helm? Is it insulated? I never looked on my 22, because I never wanted the fish I catch to fit in there, and because more than 90% of the fish I do catch are at the back of the boat.
I never understood why they guttered the same opening on the port side, and not on the starboard. It gets leaves, dirt, etc, if the boat is not covered, and has a tiny, slow drain.

Regarding the Tournament 19 Starboard bow compartment.... I sealed mine up.
