Is the optimax a fuel injected motor? I truly don't know. If they are carburated then go with the Johnson. I had 150 Ocean Runner on my 192. It developed a stalling issue after it warmed up. Had it in the shop a lot trying to solve it. Had all sorts of things replaced . I recall the OMC guy telling me the late 90s motors had this problem. Don't know if it is accurate or not statement.

Well, in the end, I am really glad I went with the Ficht motor. After getting past the initial fears, the motor is great. It is super-smooth and quiet, and virtually no smoke or smell, which my wife really appreciates! And the 200 jumps the boat right up on plane, no problem.

Besides, I have the kicker, just in case. The 9.9 High Thrust Yamaha works really well. Smooth, quiet, and it pushes the boat surprisingly fast.
